What is Best of Citysearch?

Best of Citysearch is a nationwide competition that lets local businesses compete for your votes — and win the ultimate honor of being named best in the city! Various campaigns run throughout the year, including Best Restaurants, Best Nightlife, Best Spa & Beauty, Best Shopping, Best Hotels, Best Local Services and others. Most campaigns run annually while others may be swapped out for something new. Check for new polls, new winners and the most up-to-date Best of Citysearch information in your city.

Here’s how it works:

Citysearch opens new polls and users cast their votes from a list of the most popular business in each category. Voting lasts for two to three weeks. After the polls close, the votes are tallied and checked for accuracy and fraud, then unveiled online so you can see the winning businesses in each city. All winners will then automatically receive a Best of Citysearch badge on their individual business listing.

Can I nominate my favorite business?

Yes, users can nominate their favorite businesses. A few weeks before the official polls open, we ask the community to pick nominees. The businesses with the most nominations will run in the official polls.

How does the nomination process work?

Citysearch gives every business a fair shot in the nomination process. A few weeks before the official polls open, we identify businesses eligible to be nominated based on their location and business category. So, every pizza place in New York is eligible to be nominated for the “Best New York Pizza” poll. Once these businesses are identified, we automatically stick a temporary nominate button on each of their business listings. When the polls open for voting, the nominate buttons will be automatically removed. Remember to encourage your friends and family to nominate. It will increase the chances of your favorite business making the cut.

My business didn’t get a nominate button! What’s up with that?

Nominate buttons are only given to businesses if we can make a positive match between a poll that’s about to open for voting and the products and services a business offers. This is a safeguard for fair competition. But if we made a mistake and you feel that a business deserves a nominate button for an upcoming poll, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help.

Can I pay to get my businesses placed in the official polls?

No, Best of Citysearch is not pay-for-play. Businesses are selected based on user nominations. It doesn’t matter if you’re a customer or not. However, you can increase the chances of your business running in the official polls by treating your customers well and encouraging them to nominate you.

How many times may I vote?

You can vote one time per poll and that’s it – there’s no ballot-stuffing going on here. It’s important that we maintain the integrity of each poll, so we analyze all data to ensure that no one’s trying to game the system. Votes from cheaters are automatically thrown out.
