This neighborhood is full of awesome hole-in-the-walls, up-and-coming restaurants and hip and fun watering holes.
If you're looking for a place with the weirdest most insecure sodas in LA, Galco's is your place. The perfect shop to get lost in for a few hours. Plus: the owner can tell you the history about literally every single bottle of soda in his shop.
On York in HP, this place makes some of the best huaraches around. Rolled mass dough that's been grilled and them fried is the perfect accompaniment to their meats, like the al pastor or cabeza. And don't miss their Shia frescas--they're delicious, too!
Awesome selection of locally-brewed beers and nice staff. This place on a Friday night isn't miserably packed so it's safe to go on a weekend, for sure.
Known for carrying Stumptown. Their cappuccinos are done right.
I ate here on a cold rainy day and it totally hit the spot. Their Vietnamese coffee is SO delicious. Bonus: Their interior is nice to look at.
Asada fries and lamb barbacoa are their specialities. Get them! I'm also a huge fan of their whole fried fish served with guacamole and rice and beans. So good!
This place is very family friendly. Their pizzas are solid and their beer list is really great, too.
