Here are some of my favorite restaurants in Athens-I spent my four years as an undergraduate at the University of Georgia and absolutely loved everything my little college town had to offer me, besides football that is. See how us DAWGS eat!
LRG is one of those "Must Eat" at places in Athens. They're always busy & don't take reservations, but don't let that hinder you from coming. It's SO worth the wait! If you love pasta & seafood, I'd recommend the New Rockville Pasta and any of the Cecilia V's cakes for dessert (red velvet!)
The paninis & pizzas here are fantastic! Be sure to order your pizza Sicilian style (thick crust)-the Hungry Sasquatch (meat lover's) is the BEST!
Sure it's considered "fast food," but Raising Cane's makes some of the BEST and freshest chicken tenders I've ever eaten. The breading is light and perfect, the fries are perfectly crisp & their Canes sauce is insane!
Mama's Boy is an Athens staple for breakfast & lunch! Beautiful decor, friendly service and daily specials. Be sure to order the salmon cakes eggs benedict or GA peach french toast & grab a glass of their signature strawberry lemonade. You're welcome!
How can you NOT love being able to select your own pasta & sauce combination? Originated in Athens, GA, Mirko's has become a booming success with dozens of stores throughout GA. My favorite is the granny apple smith and sausage ravioli with sorrentina (mozzarella cheese, tomato and basil with olive oil) sauce-do it!
With a few locations spread throughout Athens, this location has the friendliest staff & comfy seating. The caprese salad served in a freshly baked pizza dough bowl is a MUST!
Pauley's is an adorable little shop in the heart of Downtown Athens with great food, drinks and service. The specialty here are crepes-both sweet and savory kinds. Any crepe filled with nutella is a winner in my book!
One of my favorite places to satisfy my sweet tooth while in Athens! This local cupcake boutique sits on Baxter Street & offers up to 10+ cupcake flavors. My absolute favorite is their red velvet called The Scarlet-moist, butter & so delicious!
Even if you're not a beer connoisseur, Trappeze Pub embodies the definition of a gastropub with their tasty, yet delectable food offerings. Order the Double Pig sandwich with rosemary & garlic fries!
Jittery Joe's is the Athens equivalent of a Starbucks & they're only a few miles apart from one another. Be sure to get any of the Frosty Joes & cappuccinos!
