It can be hard finding good ethnic cuisine in Athens. Sure it's nothing like being in Atlanta with the easy accessibility to a diverse array of cuisines, but hey, you do what you can with what you have. Check it out this guide!
Athens is lucky to have Taste of India located in the heart of downtown. You'll find delicious tandoori chicken, chicken tikka masala and other traditional dishes at their daily lunch buffet. I'd say BEST Indian food in Athens!
Where do all of the college kids go after a fun night out? Choo Choo's of course! Open until 3-4AM, they offer an extensive variety of hibachi platters and other Japanese/Korean dishes. My favorites are the chicken, steak and salmon teriyaki-be sure to get some of that dangerously addicting "yellow sauce"-YUM!
Look no further because Cali N Tito's is the BEST restaurant in Athens! I've dined here a countless amount of times during my undergrad years & they've never disappointed. BYOB, friendly employees, loud/fun atmosphere & there's even a parrot. Must order items here are their empanadas, fish tacos, cuban special sandwich-you can't go wrong with any of the items here!
Only a short drive from campus, Just Pho serves a variety of Vietnamese dishes-their pho broth & vermicelli dishes are great!
If you're looking for an inexpensive Japanese restaurant to eat at in Athens, then Ru San's is your spot. With more sushi rolls than you can imagine and traditional dishes like tonkatsu and udon, you can't go wrong with their great prices and delicious foods!
Being the only Jamaican restaurant in town, Kelly's is quite the popular destination for those wanting to satisfy their jerk chicken & curry cravings. Be sure to get the mac and cheese & spicy cabbage-YUM!
Be sure to double check that you're at the right location as there are a couple of Inoko's in Athens. I love Inoko's Express-you're greeted as soon as you enter the door, employees are friendly and there's an extensive sushi/Japanese menu. Order the pink lady roll, sashimi rice bowl, udon or chicken teriyaki plates (yellow sauce on the side).
The BEST thing about college towns are the businesses that are open at crazy hours in morning! Grilled Teriyaki is one of those places-they have delicious plates of hibachi (my fave is the chicken & steak combo) and great prices! Be sure to ask for their secret "white sauce."
Fuzzy's is fabulous! The place is always packed with college students-loads of drink specials, an extensive menu of tex-mex foods, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and a fun loud environment. Be sure to order the steak quesadilla or fish tacos!
