I'm really, really cheap when it comes to clothes. Not cheap enough that I'll stock up at Walmart, but cheap enough that I'm always hunting for a good second-hand deal. Luckily, Portland is packed with great places to shop for gently used bargains. Here are my favorite places to do just that:
You have to wade through a bit of hipster service, but if you can handle the attitude, this place has some great gems. This is my go-to for goofy party outfits, 90's-style floral dresses, and lounging-in-the-sun onesies.
The best place in town to find vintage glasses and well-made hats. They've got an extensive collection of rentable suits and costumes. Best for menswear.
Amazing sprawl of room after room of vintage clothes, furniture, art, and knick-knacks. An amazing way to spend an afternoon! Great place for old t shirts with majestic animals or kittens.
Great quality, well-curated thrift, and you get what you pay for! They've got everything from clothes and records to vintage magazines and sports gear.
Mostly furniture, but there's a small section of killer shoes, sweaters, shirts, and dresses. I've found some amazing sequin pieces and turquoise jewelry at great prices.
Great selection of wool jackets, leather, sweater vests, super-soft worn in tees, vintage dresses, and locally-designed jewelry. There's even a $5 bin for extra-special bargains.
Great stuff for both guys and gals here (and everyone in between!) from lacy dresses and fancy hats to killer boots and blazers. You have to search around a bit, but there's bound to be something screaming your name.
