Where to Find Great Cheese in Chicago

Fantastic spot in Oak Park - the market offers cheese, wine and other treats, while the restaurant has lovely sandwiches and other dishes.

You could load up on cured meats, smears, and cheeses without even broaching the rest of the Mediterranean-influenced menu, but you'll definitely want to leave room for the milk-braised pork shoulder and mussels.

The cocktail menu is enormous, but you can just point and pick at random—every single one is going to be good. Also awesome: the brunch menu, fried cheese curds, an abundant cheese plate... I could keep going.

Lovely seasonal dishes like salads, meat and fish dishes. A Midwestern cheese plate is accented with housemade preserves and honey.

A favorite - the duck sandwich is amazing, as is the selection of cheese and wine.

It has a great selection of locally made products along with fruits and veggies. A little cafe area in the front has free wi-fi and roomy tables for working.

Gene's is a Chicago institution - I stock upon different brats and love the pierogis.
