Austin Asian restaurants where you can get your carb on
Excellent old school Vietnamese restaurant. The tofu & vegetable vermicelli bowls are awesome and the combination flat noodles are delicious as well. It tastes like their wok is very well seasoned. Their pho broth is light and tasty.
The best authentic pad Thai in town! Also the only place in town I know of that has south east Asian chicken rice (excellent ginger, garlic, chili sauce). They use all natural, locally sourced meats too! Now that they cook to order, food is 10x better. Also they have hand made ice cream (basil and Thai tea flavors!)
Various authentic Chinese style cut noodles (cut from a block of dough) and delicious lamb skewers. This hole in the wall serves up extremely authentic flavors in a no frills sort of way. My favorite is the lamb stew with hand cut noodles.
Taiwanese restaurant serving huge portions. Excellent beef Noodle Soup, pork chop rice, green onion pie, mapped tofu & salt & pepper fish. I also love the salt and pepper squid, pork chop soup, rice cake stir fry, and pretty much anything on the specials board. I'm a regular here because of the great food and excellent consistency & service.
Hands down the best ramen place in Austin. They do it right here, cooking the broth overnight, playing attention to the quality of the product, and service is great. My favorites are the tonkatsu and the dipping ramen!
My new go to spot in Austin for great sushi & Asian style fusion pasta made by a great chef. The regular sushi is good, but the more adventurous stuff - steak with uni butter, flounder pasta, chili escolar, and the omakase! Happy Hour until 6:30
