What looks like a hole in the wall from the street is actually a treasure trove of brown spirits, specifically single malt Scotch. For Macallan alone, they carry all the basics, plus the 1980 18 year, the 1946, and the Speymalt 1972 35 year. Shuffleboard and pool tables.
Great Art Deco-style bar and lounge, with a pretty outdoor patio area near the bow, or front, of the ship. The cocktails are good, too, but Scotch lovers should try one if the Macallans - they serve the 10, 12 and 15. The Queen Mary is also the home of the annual ScotsFest.
Gorgeous, elegant hotel in Beverly Hills - one of the best in all of LA. The bar here is equally impressive for its service and selection. If you love Scotch, you'll find an array of Macallan expressions, including the 12, 18, 21, 25 and 30. Large ice cubes are employed to avoid melting too quickly.
Part of the 213 Group - which were at the forefront of downtown's revitalization - this manly bar is where to take a whiskey lover. Among the Macallan offerings are the 12, 15, 18, 25 and even the 55. Live music some nights.
This is the sexy bar space across from Wolfgang Puck's celeb-heavy steakhouse, Cut. The cocktails are pricey but good. Scotch-wise, The Macallan 12, 18, 25 and sometimes 30 are stocked. Thick pieces of block ice are chipped to order, unless you prefer it neat.
Beautiful Four Seasons property still technically in Greater Los Angeles. I like The Bar here. The Macallan selection is impressive, and includes the 12, 15, 18, 21 and 25. They use ice spheres to prevent too much dilution - it's meant to be savored slowly, after all.
Lesser known than the older, more famous Polo Lounge, Bar 1912 is a great indoor/outdoor space at the Beverly Hills Hotel. I like the terrace area, which is perched over the pool. If you like Macallan, they carry the usual suspects, plus older ones like the 30 and 57 - at $2800 for a two-oz pour!
Most of the action at this dimly lit Silver Lake hot spot centers around the horseshoe-shaped bar. The whiskey selection is a big draw here. For Macallan, they carry the 10, 12, 18 and 20. Small, narrow smoking patio.
Outstanding, resort-style hotel in Beverly Hills, with one of the best Scotch bars in the city. The bar exists in partnership with The Macallan. Even the water here is imported from Scotland. Glasses are made by Lalique crystal. The Macallan offerings include the rarely seen 60 and 64 year, as well as more affordable expressions.
Great gastropub-style menu in Studio City. Awesome cocktails as well, especially the one with mezcal. For Scotch, they serve Macallan 12, 18, and 21, plus the 15 and 17 in fine oak. It gets super crowded here during the dinner rush and late night.
