Downtown can be tough finding a good spot to eat, but if you must be there for an event these options may actually make you reconsider it as a dining destination!
Huge, classic deli sandwiches served up by some interesting characters. Their pastrami is pretty solid and everything is super fresh!
Old school soul/southern and an Atlanta institution; go for the fried chicken, but avoid an early dinner as the place is packed with old folks.
Simple, and brilliant; get the basic and make it a double baby!
Upscale Mexican fusion from Fifth Group; brisket enchiladas were awesome, as was their mole! Great addition to the lack of good spots in the area.
Awesome new arepa shop in the Sweet Auburn Curb Market; think griddled corn cakes with slow cooked meats as the filling. Go early, as the market can get crowded around lunch time
Atlanta branch of the Jackson, MS classic, serving up amazing tamales, pig ear sandwiches and little smokies (sausage sandwiches). Beware, however as it is takeout only and closed on Mondays.
