Looking to impress business colleagues and partners? Some good ideas for elegant, dressed up lunches with great food, service and people watching (2 martinis: optional).
A reliable institution for beautiful local farm food and excellent service, wine and cocktails. If fois gras is on the menu I don't pass it up here. Fish and game like quail always a winner. Don't skip dessert!
Still think this lively spot's one of the best in the city for happy hour drinks, bellying up at the bar, people-watching, steak tartare, venison, roast hen or quail and other game meats. Awesome private party space downstairs with separate bar.
I like cocktails and snacks at the bar here or brunch. The eggs Benedict and beignets are to die for and there are plenty of healthy options too!
Upstairs - a 1920s-era French saloon meets classic Chicago steakhouse with oysters, dry-aged chops, tartare and more. Also great for martini business dinners a la Mad Men. Downstairs, a quieter, secret lounge with cozy chairs, more accessible bar, great sazeracs.
My favorite places for lobster and oysters in the city. And martinis.
I think I'll come back for the wonderful wine selection hand-picked by Alpana and the gorgeous, addictive desserts by Julia Fitting. The wine cellar downstairs is a great space for bigger parties and events up to 100.
Le Cirque-trained Chef Andrew is underrated - absolutely delicious place for an elegant lunch or pre-symphony dinner. Love the old school yet refined tuna Niçoise salad and the daily seasonal soups. Heartier pasta dishes like lasagna with homemade noodles also a winner.
