Over the past few years, Portland has been privy to a pizza revival: great chefs using Old World techniques with new ideas about ingredients and seasonality. Here are my picks for Portland's best cheesy, meaty, gooey, crusty, blistered, sliceable, craveable slices that have put P-town on the pizza map.
Apizza Scholl’s Caesar salad is a large plate of whole romaine heart leaves—so you can totally eat with your fingers—parmigiano reggiano, and house made croutons, all tossed in the house Caesar dressing that’s made daily.
From the wood-fired pizzas and handmade pastas to the pitch-perfect cocktails, the menu is a veritable Greatest Hits playlist of my favorite Italian foods. Insalata Nostrana is my pick for the best salad in town. Tip: head to Nostrana for late-night happy hour and get $5 pizzas and $5 glasses of wine every night after nine pm.
A must-try in Hood River. Give me a kolsch and a slice of pizza and I'm a happy girl. Call ahead for a brewery tour or grab a seat outside to catch the river breeze with your meal and pint.
Great spot for a by the slice late-night bite, whether you eat meat or are vegan all the way. Rock-and-roll vibe with video games and craft beers.
Great by-the-slice joint on Belmont with cheap beer. Nothing fancy, but totally hits the spot when you're cravin' a big slice of no-fuss pie. Veggie options are solid.
