It's easy to get in the habit of walking the same route to and from activities and not taking the time to look up to the sky or down below ground as we make our way throughout our days. That's ok --except it's too easy to miss gems like these who reside upstairs, downstairs or just around that corner where you never turn.
This Tibetan apothecary has knowledgeable staff and a wide selection of roots, barks, scents and other tonics to sooth your soul or that nagging sinus problem. Helpful and knowledgeable staff is a plus.
Crazy old dive bar with strong drinks, lively patrons and opinionated barkeeps. Perfectly located next door to the Moore theater.
Love. This. Place. Tucked below the business offices of Pike Place Market this cozy room has fine bevs, bites & a killer collection of film scripts to peruse should you find yourself drinking alone. Happy hour runs 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. 7 days a week.
Murray (the highly regarded and celebrated bartender) may have left the building but this Seattle gem is as good as ever. Tell the barkeep what you like and trust them to deliver. The happy hour Monday - Friday also has a great list of featured cocktails and bites. Outdoor seating is a plus!
I love the intimate, moody little bar in this restaurant just around the corner from gum wall. The killer happy hour offers bites & wine starting at just 3 bucks every day 5:00 pm. - 6:30 p.m.
Good service, great selection, fair prices. In short-- everything you could want in a used book store.
Creative and thoughtfully crafted accessories fill this tiny shop in the Pike Place Market's Down Under. Don't miss the house jewelry line.
Old school vinyl, cheap sunglasses, vintage frocks + shoes and many other fairly priced treasures fill this underground shop.
This tremendous little room is family run and offers up an incredible value on sushi, noodles and everything in between.
Good prices and great comics come together in this subterranean house of comedy. Headliners and regional talent perform to a fairly tame crowd in a comfortable but casual house. Don't miss Hari Kondabolu and W Kamau Bell when they come through town as they frequently do.
Service can be painfully slow but if you have the time the lovely room, central location, outdoor seating and fine cocktails can make for a stellar combo before a show at one of the neighborhood theatres.
Dan Dan Dan Dan Dan. Get the Dan Dan noodles or you'll be very sorry later when you see them pass by on the way to another table. Hot pot is also another great choice. Free on-site parking is a plus.
Love. This. Place. A moody little room with a reasonable noise level and creative cocktails.
Darts, pool, juke box tunes, happy hour pints, watch the game. Rinse repeat at this old school Queen Anne pub. Happy hour 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Monday - Saturday.
Tremendous belly filling tortas are served up along side traditional Mexican fare from Malenas.
Craft cocktails and seasonal fare in a charming room atop historic Odd fellows hall. A great place for a bite before an evening of dancing at Century Ballroom.
Keep your eyes peeled or you'll pass right by this cozy den which pays homage to the cocktail. It's a good idea to peruse the seasonal cocktail list which currently pimps beauties such as the gin based Cup Of Awesome.
The only business located on the lower level of the back side of Melrose Market, this hidden gem (once a 1920's auto garage) has a small but solid beer and craft cocktail list offered at what for Seattle are very good prices. The friendly service and daily happy hour 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. seal the deal.
Vegan friendly dive bar with a great beer selection, lots of live music and game nights. Check out Cakearoke Tuesday's at 9 p.m.
Family run Indian eatery that specializes in a wide variety of big, beautiful and delicious dosas. The room is causal but cheery and charming in it's own way. It's location across from the U-district farmers market is convenient in case you find yourself famished after shopping.
Sit upstairs, sit downstairs, it doesn't really matter since both rooms are handsome, lively and serve up first rate cocktails and bites.
This Belltown speakeasy has three well appointed rooms that serve up fine craft cocktails. Food can be brought in from the nearby Queen City Grill--fried oysters anyone?
Whole trout, pork cheeks, octopus crudo and deviled eggs are just a few of my favorite things to enjoy in this lovely Madison Park Room.
Killer happy hour with a view 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Tue - Sat.
I dare you to make a repeat visit to this family run Chinese noodle shop after trying their fried butter garlic chicken wings and the braised duck soup with egg noodles without ordering them each time you visit. Fast, courteous service and free on-site parking seal the deal.
Perfectly roasted chicken paired with perfectly golden fries makes me think it's a good thing I don't live closer. I mean you can't live on chicken and taters alone -- even if you might like too.
This sleeper offers up dim sum and other Chinese dishes outside the frenzy of the ID. The salt & pepper tofu is my go to dish and I always buy some fresh tofu made on-site to enjoy at home.
This tiny room serves up just over a dozen meats and cheeses but the selection seems larger because what is on the menu is so well chosen. Get the $15 combo (baguette + three meats &/or cheeses) or drop by during happy hour for $5 bubbles and charcuterie plates.
Tucked below the soon to be demolished viaduct is a gem of a letterpress shop. They do custom printing but also sell a great selection of cards, invites, one sheets and posters. Even if you don't need any paper goods it's a great place to gawk at beautiful old letterpresses and type.
Love. This. Place. Beautiful things for babies to broads including books, baubles, shoes and frocks. Most pieces are previously owned but show only light wear.
Enormous portions for the price served up in a well designed room. Everything I had here was solid.
Do not miss this beautifully and efficiently designed, but nonetheless delightful for it, tribute to giant shoes. Take coins!
Love. This. Place. This bar feels a bit like an urban treehouse with two rooms. It's casual, it's fun, it's got a great happy hour, solid cocktails, friendly bar keeps and a peekaboo view. Go!
Love. This. Place. Great service, cold brews and pinball galore fill this sunny corner Capitol Hill game room. Go!
A lovely room, beautiful well priced food and attentive service make this family ran gem the go to for Lebanese meals in Seattle.
