My favorite activity is to listen to jazz music with a drink. So many places offer great live music to sooth your soul. If you're looking for a classy night to take you back in time, these spots will help you guide through the city filled with soul music.
The food is a bit on the pricey side, but for the amazing entertainment you get, there's no need to complain. You can find outstanding performers and musicians to help get you through a tough day.
Parking is limited but what you get for the price of meals, you leave happy even if you have to park far away.
Located in downtown Glendale, Jax has a ton of old school charm and features some pretty impressive jazz musicians. Drinks are reasonably priced and service is good.
I love that there's a classy jazz lounge that's not cheesy in LA. I feel like I'm traveling back to the 50's/60's. They have a great selection of great food and a theme almost every night depending on what type of jazz you like. This place is a hidden gem.
1920's feel type of place with happy hour from 5pm-7pm on a weeknight. I love their sliders because it comes with arugula and their truffle mac and cheese is outstanding.
Great food, great music and service is always on point.
Intimate space, curated beer and wine, comfortable booths and sophisticated music allows you to enjoy the conversation/people watching/drinking on an adult level. Wednesday nights for live jazz.
They have a "happier hour" Tuesday-Friday 5-8pm and Saturday 7-8pm. It is a speakeasy bar, 1920's style, password needed on weekends and the best part, the waitresses are flappers. So adorable and makes you feel like you're in a period piece.
I recommend the sliders and the cheese plate. The cheese plate comes with this AMAZING truffle cheese
Cajun restaurant with live music on the weekends. Feels like you're away from LA. Great place for lounging with strong drinks and delicious foods.
