The Little Athletes Exploration Center inside Chelsea Piers is the best place to get your little one to burn off all that never ending energy. It'll be the best $12.00 you've ever spent when you can watch your little one dancing and prancing around with a smile as big as the moon.
I brought my one year old twins here and we didn't even make it to the third floor because they were having too much fun on the first two floors. There is en endless amount of interactive games, blocks, balls, arts and crafts, climby thingies and more to occupy your tot for hours!
Where does one bring the kiddies on yucky days? The library! Remember those places with lots of books and tables and stuff? The children's section of this one, rocks! Come here when it's 0 degrees or 100 degrees! Plus, they have storytelling on Tuesdays!
I wish there was a place like this when I was a kid. What's more exciting than touching a real life space shuttle? Watch out, you might regress into that crazy excited 10 year old and push your own kid out the way just to get a glimpse of a submarine!! AHHHH!!!!
This interactive museum is more like a huge art studio for your young ones. Why be cooped up in your 600 sq.ft apartment with your antsy kid who doesn't know what "clean up" means, when you can come here and make the biggest mess ever... and have fun while you're doing it?
Who says you have to leave NYC to find tranquility and nature? Not only are there incredible paved paths to hike through (you can even bring a baby stroller!). But the sprawling lawns can be the home to a picnic, your kid's b-day party or simply a quiet place for some "me time."
This is a parent's dream palace! You and your little one can literally spend hours here browsing through thousands of books and toys. And every day at 11am, there is story time. EVERY DAY, parents!
This is why I love the JCC, because you don't have to be a member to enjoy their perks. I personally love love love their FREE arts and crafts activities for kids. Drop by any Saturday from 2-5 from November- March and your child will be in a world of glue sticks and chalk while you take a load off.
Although pretty crowded on any given day, this playground is one of the few places in NYC where I can let my tots run free and explore. Whether your babe wants to walk up and down two stairs over and over again all day long or run through the sprinkler while screaming at the top of his lungs, you will be happy... because your kid is.
Don't want to deal with the mess and expense of owning a pet... but feel guilty that your kid has yet to interact with one? Come here, for crying out loud! Plus, they can do art projects to boot!
If you live in NYC, you best know about this place. While it's not that large, they do offer everything your playful child needs to flourish. Slides, tunnels, blocks and mats make for a perfect day for you and your kid.
Don't beat yourself up for having two square feet for your toddler to play in when you can come here! This space is large enough to exhaust your little one into a hazy stupor. They have everything from trains to kitchenettes to blocks to a large space to just go crazy!
Let's face it, raising kids in NYC can be hell when your apartment is the size of your parents' closet. Like a newborn puppy, your kids need to run and frolic and climb and jump! Come here and you will get just what these little ones need... and it will take away some of that guilt you have about raising them in NYC.
