If music makes you want to move, and your normal workout routine is tabled on the weekends, what better way to burn some calories, while having tons of sweaty-fun, by shaking your tail feathers! So grab some able bodied, as well as the uncoordinated (someone has to take the pictures!), friends and set off for a night of dancing, dancing, dancing! Ah baby, move it baby! All of these venues music varies nightly and weekly, so be sure to check out their websites and then pick out your dancing shoes!
Another great spot in Lake O to mingle and hang out with friends. With a fireplace, pool table and nightly music, it's a winner. The nachos and steak bites are our usual tasty treats.
Not only does this place have great pizza it also has the Atlantis Lounge attached to it which hosts live music, trivia nights and many kid centered activity nights. I personally love the Cuban music, Melao de Cuba every 3rd Friday of the month. The space fills, the tables are moved and it becomes an energetic salsa dance party.
The little sister of the "Diva" upstairs from it, The Crystal Ballroom, has a lot of soul to her too. Much smaller than The Crystal Ballroom, this space offers concerts at a much more intimate level as well as being home to the weekly 80's video dance party known as 80's Video Dance Attack. Screens play the iconic dance videos as the song fills the space and everyone dances as if it were still 1987!
A karaoke bar that is a ton of fun. The difference with this karaoke bar - everyone is dancing around you while you sing, which means you don't have to feel like you are "on stage." Perfect for those of us that are not the best Whitney Houston impersonators but still love to belt out " I wanna dance with someone"
Everything from dance parties & art shows to Portland's Pickling Competition is hosted here in this warehouse space. The music varies from folk, dance DJ's, to electronica. Every Friday Holocene hosts an European styled "aperitivo" hour from 5-8 with complimentary bites. Also interesting to check out- the mirrors in the bathroom.
Ok so I feel a smidge old acknowledging I go to Dixie's, but hey I have a youthful personality. Yes you can dance on the bar, I don't, but get a kick out of watching you all shake your thang up there. Top 40 and country music fill this brick house and mid-week karaoke is a great way to celebrate hump day.
Promoted as one of the more upscale dance clubs in P-town, it has it share of rotating DJ's and you can reserve a table or a portion of the club for private events ie: birthday parties. Prepare to pay a cover, even if you're a lady. It also hosts weekday HH and quieter music nights mid-week.
The 80's and 90's are still rockin at Jones dance club. Always a fun crowd with DJ's that spin the best blasts from our pasts. Plenty of places to sit one out or belly-up to either of their two bars.
The $7 cover get you into a venue with 2 distinct vibes. Inside is the dueling piano bar that is full of energy and oldies but goodies. Outside is a DJ spinning top 40 music and lots of "happy" people. Security outside is "on top" of things but expect your toes to be stumbled upon at least once that night. Overall a fun place and being able to dance outside, under the stars, wins me over.
Absolutely love to dance the night away at CC's Fantastic music, no cover and drinks specials coming in around $2! The crowd is energetic and let me just say, these boys know how to dance! Always a fun night dancing and no need to know defensive dance tactics at this bar!
The iconic Crystal Balllroom is a phenominal venue to hear concerts, attend themed parties and events. The dance floor is constructed on a foundation of ball-bearings making the floor feel as if you are dancing on clouds, which is mighty soothing when you are at the, primarily standing room only, concert venue for 4 hours. Also when no concerts are schedule in this massive space on a Friday Night, the very popular 80's Video Dance Attack, usually hosted downstairs at Lola's room, is moved up to the Crystal Ballroom for an even bigger flashback from your past!
Promoted as an "audiovisionary center" Refuge PDX is a warehouse space that always has an eclectic lineup from Bollywood Dance parties, to art shows, lecture series and musical, magical childrens events. It is a warehouse space but that just means it has high ceilings and is spacious and able to transform to fit the event its hosting, it's not grungy and it does have decent bathrooms. Street parking and there usually is a food cart parked in front for after those late night/early morning raves.
