Not all high-priced loaves are created equal. Here are some stellar, artisan bread bakers worth paying the extra dough.
One of the first artisan bakeries in Seattle, this spot keeps chugging right along. The Pioneer Square cafe features daily specials along with a long lineup of sandwiches made on the rustic bread. Huge selection of pastries including cookies, muffins, scones and pretty darned good pies.
Call this the place build on the creamy coconut pie, but that would be only a slice of the story. This teeny bakery is cram-packed with excellent options, both sweet and savory. There are breakfast sandwiches that feature house-made English muffins, as well as all sorts of salads and a couple soups of the day. Tom's creamy tomato is a huge hit. Treats go all over the map from delicate cookies to whole cakes, and, of course, that famous pie. It's truly hard to make a bad choice.
