I do love the greenery, scenery and the people of Portland; but give me a short 5 and a half hour flight, a dirty, smelly taxi ride through the Lincoln Tunnel and people on roller skates in Central Park - You'll see I am equally enamored with Manhattan. When you need a little touch of the Big Apple, garnished with a cherry, in our unpretentious, clean and green city of Portland do what I do - order a Manhattan.
Fantastic spot for Happy Hour. Their large bar area has one one of my favorite happy hours in town. $7 Sizzle, Swizzle & Swirl. Tasty Manhattans, steak skewers cooked to order, medium rare please. Spicy Ahi Tuna, yum. Lobster bites with a tangy sauce and a steak sandwich that is huge by happy hour standards! Another bonus, the happy hour goes till 7!
Great for HH, friendly bartenders, an old world vibe w/a mix of personalities. Classic martini's made superbly, finger food that satisfies
Style and grace fill this dimly lit lounge. Small bites and a plethora of manhattan choices fill the menu. Sit up at the bar and chat with the best mannered bartenders in town or cozy up with your significant other the very snuggly banquet seating that borders the perimeter.
Seasonable, organic, sustainable, to-die for, all describe the food prepared at The Gilt Club. Sip on an expertly prepared classic cocktail like a Blood and Sand or the Brooklyn ( also known as the Manhattan) while you await your deliciously, to-die-for food.
The secret's out, fabulous manhattans and Mac-n-cheese! May look crowded but turn over is relatively fast. Live music, almost nightly.
Brunch can be classified as a hobby here in Portland and Cafe Nell is definitely has a following for this hobby. You must start with the cornbread muffins with jalapeno butter, every thing melds together in your mouth and leave you happily satisfied. Sausage and sage has comes out in a casserole dish with ingredients that compliment each other but do not mush together to leave each indistinguishable from one another. The eggs benedict are offered in 2-3 ways, each sounding wonderfully tempting, the kids devoured the chocolate chip pancakes that had the perfect amount of chips to pancake ratio. The brunch atmosphere is lively, the service is attentive and the food is traditional, kicked up a notch!
Think 1974 living room 10x's bigger! Vintage tables, chairs and couches create intimate seating spaces within this large room with a fireplace in the sunken center. Local, bold, interesting art adorns the walls. The burger was extremely tasty and the cream cheese and herb stuffed mushrooms topped with bread crumbs and manchego cheese were devoured leaving me wanting to not only lick my fork clean but also the plate they were served on. Our waitress was attentive and pleasant. Live bands play Sunday evenings and, in nicer weather, a well sized patio with ping pong table and outdoor bar makes for a very chill way to wrap up a day.
Charming Victorian house with cozy seating indoors and out. Bourbons, whiskys, scotch, gin and HH all day Sunday! Love Bourbon, join the Bourbon Derby. To cross the finish line you will have to had tried 50 different Bourbons at The Pope House! Your prize, a good luck horse shoe and your name on their Bourbon Derby Wall.
