We're a brunch town, and we're not afraid to admit it. Portlanders love nothing more than sitting down to a heaping plate of breakfast grub and ordering a few rounds of everyone's favore a.m. cocktail. Portland’s sauciest morning cocktails range from the classic to the creative, and I've tasted through most of them to bring you my picks for the best.
Cozy neighborhood spot that opens early for brunch (great for early birds like me). Tons of options, savory and sweet, and some great Bloody Mary picks (six of em, in fact).
Dogs are allowed both indoors and out, and there are dog-specific menu items. On the spot’s (often long) sign up sheet, you have to account for how many canines are in your party when you put your name on the waiting list.
Awesome spot for picky eaters--the staff is super kind about substitutions, plenty of GF and vegan options, and enough Bloody Mary variations to keep your thirst quenched for weeks.
This contender for Portland's longest brunch line serves an outstanding burger and chicken & waffles. Bring 5 friends and make a reservation to skip the wait!
Best cocktails in town meets sophisticated, adventurous, and internationally-inspired seasonal cuisine. Communal tables, ultra-hip clientele, and some damn good French fries. Now serving brunch!
New location! 1625 NE Killingsworth, more seats, more meat, more killer Bloody Marys (with BBQ sauce in the mix). You can buy bottles of the sauce to bring home, though you probably won't be able to recreate the magic.
A former pizza parlor got the Cinderella treatment and is now a colorful haven for farm-to-fork cuisine. No wait for brunch--get the polenta w/ mushroom gravy! All salads are delicious.
The globetrotting menu at John Gorham’s shared plate brunch hub includes melt-in-your-mouth Burmese Red Pork Stew, tapas-style Spanish Potatoes Bravas, Israeli Shakshuka, and North African sausage over couscous, but the pantry and penchant for chocolate-dipped doughnuts is purely local.
BEST BLOODY MARY IN TOWN! Freshness is the key ingredient in their glasses packed with lemon juice, just-grated horseradish (never from a jar), and plenty of surplus citrus slices.
This GQ favorite deserves every bit of the national press it's received. Say hi to Evan behind the bar and let him make you the best cocktail in PDX. Great for date night.
