For many of us, hair is a big deal. After trying out many hair salons in Austin, I've found a few that are the best based on expertise, product selection and just good vibes.
I found Sunny at Orbit years ago. She was my stylist for years, and all throughout my bang period. All the stylists are great and very reasonable. I also love that the business is small and owned by a cute little East Austin family. They are fun and hip, and offer a great referral fee!
Julian has still got it! He cut my mother's hair years ago when she lived in Austin. I went to see him based on her fabulous recommendation and I left with a winning look! Julian and the whole staff is so sweet and humble!
I finally caved in and went to Vain after 3 friends recommended it. And it was there that I met Crystal, one of the coolest and most talented stylists in town. All of them are great and well worth the hefty fee. And they only use my favorite products by Kevin Murphy.
Birds is my go-to when I need a quick hair refresher at a good price. The cuts are super affordable, and all the stylists are very professional and on trend. Drink a lone star while you wait too! They don't take reservations, but just call ahead and they'll put you on a short waiting list.
If you're looking for some mad talented Aveda trained colorists, go to Jackson Ruiz salon. Last time I went red I paid them a visit--clean, lasting color. I've also seen some great stylists there with awards to show for it!
