It's cold. May as well hole up somewhere cozy. May I suggest the following...?
A small, hard-to-spot Italian gem with housemade pastas and lovely vinos. The joint just oozes romance.
A nifty combo of cafe/gift shop. Grab some friends and drink chai at the floor-level tables in front.
The quintessential Chicago jazz spot remains virtually unchanged from its early days. A very, very mixed crowd fills the room. You'll pay an admission charge, but drinks are inexpensive.
Beer geeks and foodies come in droves for the Belgian goodies at this giant bar/resto. Ask you server for a beer rec and try the mussels.
Intimate, highly dateworthy spot w/ vino aplenty & decent nibbles (get the yummy burger if ur ravenous). Staff & clientele can sport a 'tude
Always packed, thanks to fab baristas and a sunny workspace that's perfect for Macbooks.
The Bluebird/Webster's Wine Bar crew knows it's wine...but they also cook up some killer grub. Stick to small plates, and try the frog legs if they're on the menu.
Bartenders are genius (and fun!) & can concoct potions tailored to your tastes. Plan to eat here & stick around for free cookies @ midnight!
Be bold & taste the wacky-sounding meaty plates; they're indulgent & delish. Dinner's always a zoo, so I love the dialed-down brunch.
Oh, how I love sweet Maria's. A well-stocked front liquor shop (great for craft beer!) gives way to a stellar bar with one of the best beer lists in the city. Check out the back patio if weather allows.
