Served with a savory cheese fondue/dipping sauce and perfectly cooked, these lamb chops are sure to put a dent in your hunger. "Tenderloin sliders at Burtons Grill by the Fenway slam it out of the culinary ballpark and at under four bucks, an order is cheaper than anything you can get from a hot dog vendor. Part of the "After-Work Recession Buster" menu (which features a litany of $3.95 small plates, available daily from 4pm to 7pm), the shredded tenderloin meat comes sandwiched between soft mini-hamburger buns with provolone cheese and tartar sauce. I initially was skeptical about tartar sauce in my sliders, but I actually ended up liking the subtle tang it added. (And luckily, the burger didn't resemble anything close to a fish sandwich). Sunday nights at Cafe Sushi feature nigiri for a buck per piece. This is no O Ya, but the fish is fresh and the selection plentiful. Tune out the rumblings of the T tunnel beneath you, and hone in on the taste of über rich eel, wrapped in crisp nori and swept with a sticky sweet sauce that smells faintly of BBQ. Appetite not yet sated? Tuna, salmon, tilapia, shrimp, and many other varieties of nigiri are all $1 each, with few exceptions (e.g. sea urchin and yellowtail are $2 per piece). Despite the incredulously pooh-pooh-able dollar price and diminutive serving, each nibble is like a melty mind-blowing trip to beefytown, with perfect-yet-simple seasoning and bang-up texture perfection. The accoutrements of butter-kissed grilled bread and whole-grain mustard frame this moo-riffic masterpiece, one of the many surprises rearing its head on SDLT's Magical Monday menu from 5pm-7pm at the bar.     Oyster Shooters, $2. "Hello? Is there a mathematical topographer in the kitchen? Because these crackly, crunchy, cornmeal "encrusted" oysters have just about maximized their gnarly battered-and-fried surface area. An order scores you a pair of these textural gems, coated in what might be the tastiest form of humble-crumble spackle. Drizzled in a Cajun aioli that actually registers genuine spiciness, these reconstituted bivalves (seriously, they're morbidly resituated on the half shell) are a surefire win during Vox's small plates spree, every day from 4pm to 6pm and 10:30pm-12am from Thursday to Saturday." -- Christine Liu, Citysearch Boston Editor
