5 to Try

Bailey's Prime Plus

8160 Park Ln, Dallas, TX 75225

The onion rings at this 12,000-square-foot steakhouse don't disappoint the monster appetite. The rings here are indeed jumbo-sized and served with a side of Bailey's-spiked ketchup.

Lee Harvey's

1807 Gould St, Dallas, TX 75215

Ninety-nine percent of the deliciousness rests on the batter. Here, the batter doesn't crumble, and the rings get a dose of Chipotle aioli sauce, a welcome departure from ketchup or ranch dressing.

Dakota's Steakhouse & Fresh Seafood Restaurant of Dallas Texas

600 N Akard St, Dallas, TX 75201

It's worth an elevator trip below street level to this fancy steakhouse to get a plate of onion rings. Supposedly the restaurant's trick is removing the onion skin first to ensure a clean and crunchy bite.

Burger House

6913 Hillcrest Ave, Dallas, TX 75205

Size apparently matters to some onion ring lovers. This SMU hangout delivers them neither too large or too small, and expertly seasoned so that diners won't even need a dip.

Stephan Pyles

1807 Ross Ave, Dallas, TX 75201

If ever an onion ring were to look elegant and taste rugged, it's at this celebrity chef's restaurant in downtown Dallas. The Red Chili rings drape over a bone-in-ribeye, which is equally, if not more spicy with its blend of three chili powders.
