FRIGHT FEST: Hop on your favorite ride at Six Flags Over Texas and experience them in the dark this Halloween. If that's not creepy enough, dare to venture into the haunted houses or catch a show to see a Thrilleresque zombie in full, cadavery flesh.
This downtown Dallas costume shop is touted as the oldest in the Southwest. They carry costumes for masquerades, theater and more yet specialize in period costumes from Ancient Greece through the 1940s. So whether it's Athena or pinup look you're after, you'll be sure to snatch a getup that will make your friends howl.
Three linked haunted houses take over 23,000 square feet of spooky space in the heart of downtown Dallas. And fear is the specialty here since they've been generating it since 1996. From Sept. 25 to Oct. 31, they'll be serving up food, games, live entertainment and yes ? plenty of scares.
THE GREAT PUMPKIN FESTIVAL: A beautiful landscape of autumn foliage and a plethora of pumpkins make for the perfect Halloween picture at the Dallas Arboretum. The Autumn at the Arboretum series features The Great Pumpkin Festival through Nov. 1 and allows you and the family to take a stroll through natures fall labyrinth.
BOO AT THE ZOO: Grab the kids and head out for Halloween happenings at the Fort Worth Zoo Oct. 22-27 from 5:30pm to 8pm. Fourteen treat stations include live music, clowns, live animal presentations and pumpkin carving demos. It'll be a wild time at this long-running family friendly tradition in Fort Worth.
This Uptown boutique hotel is known for its dramatic flair and their Wizard of Oz Halloween party is no different. On Oct. 31, the first floor will emulate Emerald City and the wicked witch's castle. And doting Dorothys will serve cocktails and remind you that there's no place like ZaZa on Halloween.
