Best Manicure: This is no ladies-who-lunch nail salon and that's what some of its many regular clients love about it. Well, that and the fact that it's cozy, reasonably priced and staffed by eager manicurists who will do more than lift a finger to squeeze in an appointments for newbies and old-timers. Plus, owner Rebecca is expert at managing problem nails and cuticles.
Best Massage: Serenity practically drips from the Italianate walls at this Mediterranean Old City day spa. Aromatherapy guides the many of treatments here, where essential oils are selected to complement the mood and the health of the client. About a dozen types of massages originate from points around the world, from the Lakota Indian Raindrop Therapy to Japanese Reiki.
Best Facial: It's one thing to sip wine while you get a facial and it's entirely another to have the wine be an integral part of the facial itself. At this holistic Center City day spa, you can submerge yourself in the Vino Radiance Facial, which uses the crushed seeds, skin and pulp of grapes grown at Chaddsford Winery as an anti-aging scrub. According to spa owners, the anti-oxidant salve used in this one-of-a-kind vinotherapy treatment exfoliates, tightens and hydrates the skin.
Best Cut, Color and Style: Let's just say that if the coiffing here is good enough for all of Cherry Hill's most discerning brides, it's good enough the mere mortals of the planet. Whether you need to do your bridal party's do, or just get a snip-snip in between major cuts, you will feel polished and pampered at this glitzy mega-salon. Just be prepared for your colorist to have a full-time assistant (double the tipping) and to insincerely promise to Facebook all the old high-school classmates you run into.
Best Makeup: We're not sure if it's that Ursula Augustine's makeup lessons and applications are necessarily superior to everyone else's, or if it's that she's just so gosh darn nice that makes us like her so much. Either way, the 20-year veteran of such salons as Adolf Biecker uses her own natural line of products to patiently demonstrate the nuances of beautifying one's face, and turns the mundane task into a party at her private after-hours cocktail-and-makeup events.
