The time has come for your cheap or unemployed friends to stop begging off on going out. With nightly $1 drink specials at the following bars, you can now reply to friends who try to give you the old "I'm too broke to go anywhere", with the fresh "not anymore, buddy--find four quarters and we're out the door".

Loved Doc Watson's as a grad student? You'll love it all over again with $1 PBR cans every Monday and Tuesday from 5pm-7pm. If you check in for lunch, 25-cent wings and $3 burgers should get you through until the happy hour beer special kicks in; hide in the bathroom after happy hour and maybe you'll be able to avoid the live cover charge once the Celtic and rock bands start up around 8pm or 9pm on Tuesdays.
If you can stomach the college scene, fill your tummy with $1 domestic bottles and $1 well drinks during Wild Wednesdays, i.e. college night in Manayunk. Beginning at 10pm and running until midnight, Wild Wednesdays gets, uh, wilder(?) with $2 roast beef sandwiches and $200 in prizes for the winners of Big Josh's Quizzo tournaments.
The folks at Lucy's know that if you practically give it away, they will come. On Thursdays from 10pm to midnight, well drinks cost no more than $1, and Miller High Life bottles are--get this--50 cents. Talk about having a shot and a beer. Entertainment is free, too, with DJ Bushy spinning requests.
Oh yes, it's ladies night, when the moon is bright. If you listen to Q102, then you probably weren't alive when that song was popular. But, if you listen to Q102, you already know that Thursdays bring the Girls Night Out Party (and Q102 live broadcasts) to Club 27. You loyal listeners also know that it's the city's only 18-plus dance night and that bottles and well drinks cost $1. There, now the rest of you know, too, and you can keep on listening to your iPods.
As if you needed another reason to celebrate Fridays, add $1 U-Call-It happy hour to your list. From 6pm to 8pm, the crowd at this sports bar gets ready for the weekend with dollar shots and well drinks. Watch the game or watch some 21-year-old college girls get drunk. Either way, it's sure to be a cheap thrill.
If you love inexpensive beer, but can't bring yourself to drink cheap beer, you'll want to get your brew on here on Saturdays and Sundays from 5pm to 7pm. That's when Yuengling Premium (a regional alternative to the ubiquitous lager) and Stegmaier Porter (brewed by the Wilkes-Barre peeps who make Lionshead) go on sale for a buck each. On Sundays, the deal goes live again from 10pm to midnight.
