5 to Try: Holiday Cocktails

The holidays are all about thoughtful gifts, friendly cheer and good will towards men, but we?d like to take a second and highlight a personal favorite of the season: holiday cocktails! Rarely do we get the chance to sip mugs of hot spiced cider or booze-laced eggnog. So, for those looking for a little enhanced holiday cheer, we've got five spots currently dishing a plethora of seasonal happiness in a glass.

'Tis the Season

Paces 88

88 W Paces Ferry Rd NW, Atlanta, GA 30305

Brace yourself, holiday cocktail fans, the St. Regis Hotel and their posh restaurant Paces 88 don't just deliver just one cocktail for this time of year, but they serve 12 cocktails in honor of the "Twelve Days of Christmas." From a Geesetini (six geese a-laying) to a Nogbird (four calling birds), they churn out creatively coined cocktails both hot and cold to warm the spirit.

BLT Steak

45 Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd, Atlanta, GA 30308

With the glorious cocktail bar Drinkshop residing upstairs, BLT Steak has a lot to live up to in the cocktail department. But, when you make your own ginger beer for your holiday concoction, we think you're on the right track. BLT's Apple Cranberry Mule is a zesty gin cocktail accented by vanilla, sage, lime juice and, of course, ginger beer and cranberries.

Whiskey Park

188 14th St Ne, Atlanta, GA 30361

With a menu chocked full of innovative cocktails, we would be disappointed if the Gerber bars (Whiskey Blue included) failed to come up with something crafty around the holiday season. But, they unleash seasonal thunder with four cocktails worthy of a splurge. And, is there a better way to relive a little youthful holiday happiness than with a cocktail in honor of a candy cane? We think not.

The St. Regis Atlanta

88 West Paces Ferry Road, Atlanta, GA 30305

St. Regis bartender Jason LeCompte came up with a chocolate-y experiment deemed The Grinch to oppose the drinks honoring the "Twelve Days of Christmas." Boasting a miniature candy cane as a garnish and featuring dark creme de menthe, orange and chocolate liqueur as well as a heavy pour of cream, this martini is nothing short of decadent.

Serpas

659 Auburn Ave #501, Atlanta, GA 30307

Culinary trendsetter Scott Serpas gives us two cocktails over the holiday season and, while we appreciate his Irish Cream Cocktail (which combines two of our favorites, Jameson and Laphroaig scotch), our heart yearns for warm drinks around this time. Instead, try the Christmas Mulled Cider, which includes four types of apples, fresh ginger and brandy.
