Atlanta is a great dating town; a lot of single people here and an array of cool date spots. So I wanted to put together a list of some great spots you can hit up. Take a first date to any of these places and you'll be halfway home to scoring date number two. So what makes a great date spot anyway? Well for me there are three elements that represent the holy trinity of a quality date spot. In no particular order they are: a good environment/atmosphere (bonus points if there's outside seating available) ? this pretty much sets the tone for where the night is going, quality drinks/cocktails and finally great food, preferably appetizers or small bites

slick, hip and arguably home to Atlanta's best cocktails. While DrinkShop's locale may be untraditional (it's literally in the W downtown), it transports you out of Atlanta and into a hip, modern bar that could easily be found in LA or NYC. DrinkShop is home to some of the most talented & well versed bartenders in the city. The cocktail list is unique, creative and extremely well thought out. They've even taken it down to the ice used in their drinks. Yes you read right, Drinkhop has different kinds of ice they use depending on the type of cocktail being made. A gimmick?.... maybe, but trust me in that DrinkShop makes some of the best cocktails in town and is certain to impress anyone who appreciates a quality, well made cocktail.
ok, so I love JCT in general, but the upstairs bar is a really cool date spot. The drink list is pretty straightforward; nothing really unique or distinct but the bar itself is uber cool and sure to impress. If the weather is nice, you'll be able to sit outside at one of the best outdoor bars in the city. The outside bar has these cool couches that give the bar a hip, but really relaxed and inviting air to it?. a darn near perfect place to relax, have a drink and soak up the awesome Atlanta nights. But even if its cold or rainy, the indoor portion of the bar is still a good time and a cool scene. The menu offers some of the highlights from the restaurant but also adds some awesome `only available in the bar? dishes. Check out the Crab n? Artichoke pot. It's a mixture of fresh lump crab, artichokes and roasted red peppers all served in a small mason type jar with some house made crunchy bread. Its an incredibly fresh and clean tasting dish. And if you haven't had them, be sure to fire up an order of the truffle fries as they are the best damn fries in the city!
In my mind, Kevin Rathbun is a genius and I love everything he does. We all know about Rathbuns and Rathbun's Steak, but its his lesser known ?Krog Bar? that I wanna focus on as a good date spot. The first thing you should know is that the bar is pretty darn small, so you might want to have a `plan B? if you get there and there are no seats available. Though, they do have a very nice outdoor patio, so if the weather is nice out, there is additional seating available. But what the bar lacks in seating it more that makes up for in intimacy and the `coolness factor.? Krog Bar is a wine only tapas bar, cranking out the phenomenal food we've come to expect from its sister restaurants. The menu is unique to Krog Bar and offers a great selection of meats and cheeses along with an assortment of tapas sized dishes that are sure to please. And there is just something about sharing tapas and some quality vino that adds just the right amount of intimacy & romance to a date. Trust me, Krog Bar delivers.
Holman & Finch is probably the one spot in Atlanta that I think best embodies the trinity of great date spots. They have sensational appetizers/small bites (and a huge selection of them), some great cocktails/drinks (well made specialty cocktails & good draft beers) and it's a great environment with friendly & fun bartenders?.. if only they had outdoor seating. You simply can't go wrong with a date at Holman & Finch.
I?m thinking specifically about the bar at Agave. Now maybe its me, but there's just something about a margarita that says fun and good times are ahead. And outside of the one's made in my kitchen, I think that Agave makes some of the best margaritas in the city. Throw in some quality guac and a few other quality appetizers and you've got a fun and cool date spot. Agave offers an impressive array of different types of margaritas sure to please any palate. So whether you're into the traditional lemon/lime variety, the more fruity style or the frozen ones, Agave has you covered! They also boast an impressive list of tequilas for all you liquor snobs out there (of which I?m one), so you can customize your margarita to your personal preferences.
