There's nothing quite as American as a good piece of pie. We've rounded up the best pie in D.C. from the people who know this city best: the Citysearch Dictators. Sweet potato, apple, peanut butter and pecan--whatever your flavor, there's a pie for you here. Interested in becoming a Dictator? Apply here: http://ow.ly/1ecz0 (Photo courtesy Baked & Wired)

Citysearch Dictator Matt Dozier likes his pie late-night and classic diner style. The Woodley Park local recommends his neighborhood eatery: "Open City's got some pretty good pie, and it's open late! I've had the apple pie, which was really good, the sour cherry pie was tart and delicious, and the peanut butter cheesecake is crazy rich and decadent. Everything is baked fresh in-house daily, and you can get slices to go if you're in a rush. It's pretty much an ideal place for satisfying those late-night (or anytime) pie cravings."
Like Billy Crystal in "When Harry Met Sally," Citysearch Dictator and Mt. Vernon Square pie-lover Lisa Mathias partakes in pecan pie. At this Georgetown bakery, it's a chocolate version. "It was excellent," she says. "Very sweet but a nice twist on the traditional pecan pie."
Faith Hayden of Van Ness knows her pies. The Citysearch Dictator recommends several at Kramer's Afterwords Cafe: "The wild berry at Kramerbooks is my fave, but their goober (peanut butter) pie is really good too." Fellow Dictator Meghan Dombrink-Green also recommends Afterwords, and says "I love the apple crumb pie--it's huge and delicious."
Citysearch Dictator and U Street girl-about-town Deborah Kim recommends the apple pie at this rock-and-roll themed bakery. While a friend has been delivering her the goods from this Baltimore flagship (where you can also order pies online), a location in D.C.'s Atlas District is opening soon. "The apple pie has a really sweet crumb topping and they're incredible after reheating in the oven. I've had them cold too because sometimes I am way too lazy. They are totally worth the $25 price tag," she says, though add this warning: "You really shouldn't eat more than two slices!"
