Tucked behind a strip shopping center on Woodway, Barnaby's is a cute cafe offering plenty of choices for meat-eaters and vegetarians alike. The small but adorable restaurant spills out onto a covered patio that is surrounded by greenery and the experience isn't dulled by noisy streets. Staying in the shade will keep you cool while still letting you have a breath of fresh air.
Uptown Park has plenty of outdoor seating for almost all of its restaurants, but Cafe Express has the prime real estate. It has plenty of umbrella-shaded tables outside if you want to catch the sun as well as tables under a covered walk way if you'd rather stay out of the heat. Bring the kids and let them play by the fountain as you relax outside and enjoy spring evenings.
Like Barnaby's, Brasil offers a covered outdoor patio that is surrounded by trees and plants. It doesn't have a pretentious atmosphere and instead feels like you stepped into your own backyard. Feeling especially indulgent? Pair a glass of wine with one of their delicious desserts in the middle of the afternoon.
Sure, it's a small sidewalk. And okay, it's in a strip mall. And yes, it overlooks Westheimer. But still, Corelli's Italian Cafe has a tiny, gem of an outdoor seating area that offers a wonderful sidewalk cafe kind of vibe. The outdoor tables are small but they're perfect for an early summer dinner date or a casual lunch. Bonus tip: the iced tea tastes even better when you drink it outside!
Cool down on a summer night with a cold beer and enjoy the breeze. Sherlock's has outdoor seating makes the often-crowded pub seem more like a relaxed place to hang out with friends. The large patio tables are perfect for hanging out, and since the Pub sits at the back of the lot your conversation won't be drowned out by traffic. Best of all, servers come to the patio so you don't have to go inside every time you need another round. Warning: seats fill up fast at Sherlock's, so get there a little early for a prime spot.
