Great First Dates

The Pearl Cup

1901 Henderson Ave, Dallas, TX 75206

This trendy indie espresso bar is the perfect place to meet your online match. A cup of coffee and a chat is a good way to find out quickly if you're compatible. Sit down with a chai or signature latte. Stay for a grilled cheese sandwich or an order of hummus if the chemistry is clicking.

Campisi's Egyptian Restaurant

5610 E Mockingbird Ln, Dallas, TX 75206

The original Mockingbird location is a local landmark. Kennedy assassination figure Jack Ruby is said to have hung out in the corner booth. More importantly, the dining room is dark, which is good for either masking flaws or getting romantic. The pizza isn't bad either.

The Grape

2808 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75206

Go here if dollars don't matter. It's been around for more than 35 years and has a long history of romance. Candles, murals and faux grape clusters give the dining room an Old World charm. The famed baked brie served with honey, nuts and fresh fruit is a must-order menu item.

Pocket Sandwich Theatre

5400 E Mockingbird Lane Ste 119, Dallas, TX 75206

This small theater serves dinner and drinks while you watch the show. The food isn't spectacular but the entertainment is usually great fun, especially the ?popcorn melodramas? when audiences are invited to launch popcorn at the stage.

Studio Movie Grill

11170 N Central Expy, Dallas, TX 75243

If first dates leave you tongue-tied then consider a movie and dinner rolled into one; you dine while watching a film in which the actors provide all the dialogue. There's also a bar in the lobby so you can relax with a drink and light conversation before the show.
