Few foods evoke nostalgia for home like a hot cherry pie cooling on the counter or pumpkin pie at a Thanksgiving table. Even if mom's pie came from the frozen food aisle she still lovingly scooped the vanilla ice cream onto it by hand. Before you get the urge to run to mama check out these pie places; they'll make you feel at home.

The original location in Highland Park Village has the feel of a cozy tea room. Walk up to the counter and check out the dazzling display of cakes, cookies and pastries. There is a lunch menu but the sweets are the main attraction here--choose from a rotating selection of fruit, nut, custard, meringue and ice box pies.
Known for its peach cobbler, the kitchen also makes sinfully delicious coconut meringue and pecan pies. Sit a spell with a coffee and soak up the familiar atmosphere. Friendly waitresses nod at the regulars sitting in the large, open dining room digging into old-fashioned Southern cooking.
The selection at this homey spot is so great you may seriously ponder whether you're a cream pie or a fruit pie person. Forget the question and just enjoy it all--choose from chocolate cream, coconut cream, blueberry, cherry, mountain-berry, key lime and lemon ice box versions.
