Neighborhood Gems: Mt. Vernon Square

This area just north of Chinatown has recently built up it's appeal with many new, trendy restaurants and bars, as well as local businesses that add to the neighborhood's flair. Many young people have flocked to the area's new apartment complexes and condos, making it a safe and affordable place to live while being in the middle of the District. Residents and visitors can no longer look over this spot on the map, since more businesses are expected to come.

This extension of U St.'s popular literary-themed cafe has a variety of American fare, ranging from pizzas to burgers to entrees like crab cakes and lasagna.
