Outdoor Restaurants in Houston

Jax Grill

1613 Shepherd Dr, Houston, TX 77007

If there is a better way to spend a Friday night than dancing to live zydeco with some friendly Jax regulars, we don't need to know. Catch your breath on the breezy patio and order some fried catfish.

Backstreet Cafe

1103 S Shepherd Dr, Houston, TX 77019

Cast in the shade of a huge oak tree, the patio of this popular River Oaks brunch spot is an urban oasis. We recommend the lobster sandwich, the shrimp and grits--and making reservations.

King Biscuit

1606 White Oak Dr, Houston, TX 77009

For a meal off the beaten track, try this Heights-adjacent patio with a stunning view of the downtown skyline. Fried pickles and live music remind us why we're Texans

Hobbit Cafe

2243 Richmond Ave, Houston, TX 77098

Families flock to the whimsical, Hobbit-themed patio for brunch and a delectable salmon burger. It's the only place we've ever seen bags of water used as mosquito repellant.

Mary'z Mediterranean Cuisine

5825 Richmond Ave, Houston, TX 77057

The patio is covered, which is a blessing since Mary?z sits on the Richmond strip, so it isn't exactly the place to bond with nature. But it's enough to just feel an occasional outdoor breeze while smoking nutty hookah flavors and noshing on hummus.

Pico's Mex-Mex Restaurant

5941 Bellaire Blvd, Houston, TX 77081

Transport yourself south of the border with some chicken mole and mega-sized margaritas under Pico's thatched roof. Things get noisy and crowded so avoid peak hours if you're looking for calm.
