Frozen Desserts in Houston (Frozen Drinks, Too)

Tampico Refresqueria

4520 N Main St, Houston, TX 77009

A single bite of one of the raspas from Tampico and you'll never touch a syrupy snow cone again. Superb flavors like coconut with crema topping and tamarind will make your day.

Hank's Ice Cream Parlor

9291 Main St, Houston, TX 77025

Hank's is a Houston institution. We're pretty sure that Beyonce has eaten here (at least her photo is on the wall) but it doesn't matter that much to us because the ice cream is so good. Quirky flavors like Grape Nuts and corn are available but we usually stick to chocolate.

100 Percent Taquito

3245 Southwest Fwy, Houston, TX 77027

The faux food stalls where customers order up cold limeade or melon agua fresca conjure a charming Mexican market feel with the added blessing of air conditioning. Mexican Coke, Jarritos sodas and, yes, pitchers of margarita, paloma and sangria are on the menu too.

Juice Box

9889 Bellaire Blvd, Houston, TX 77036

This Chinatown favorite is always packed with teenagers and families and it's not hard to understand why. Cheery and clean, Juice Box has hundreds of fruit juice combinations and the best shaved iced, a mountain of ice topped with fruit, condensed milk and a scoop of creamy ice cream.

Little Bigs

2703 Montrose Blvd, Houston, TX 77006

If you're one of the people crazy enough to sit on the patio of Little Big's in this weather (it's summer in Houston, folks!), at least get yourself a milkshake. ?The Dude? is a frosty homage to the Big Lebowski's White Russian obsession with just the right amount of alcoholic kick--now that's what we call a seriously decadent frozen dessert.

The Fruit Palette

2413 Rice Blvd, Houston, TX 77005

Searching for the perfect pair of jeans in Rice Village is bound to get you overheated--and that's where Fruit Palette comes in. Between light salads, popsicles in tasty flavors like key lime pie and the free wi-fi, it's a cool place in Houston to hide out until the sun goes down.
