Atlanta Restaurant Deals (Thanks, Recession!)

La Tavola

992 Virginia Ave Ne, Atlanta, GA 30306

Don't think La Tavola isn't legit because it offers $10 pasta bowls on Monday. It's easily one of Atlanta's best Northern Italian spots, and its location in the heart of Virginia Highland means it's as convenient as it is elegant.

1000 Virginia Ave, Atlanta, GA 30306

Also in Virginia Highland, Noche brings in the Monday crowds with a $10 all-you-can-eat tapas. Expect the rotating menu to include a soup and salad, plus four or five additional small plates. A see-and-be-seen social scene adds to the festivity.

Hand In Hand

752 N Highland Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30306

Known for its bombastic (and frat-tastic) weekend crowds, Hand in Hand sneaks in a handful of deals during the week. While the crowds come for $1 PBR and $1 taco night on Sunday, the pub also has a great Tuesday deal--$2 hamburgers.

Blue Frog Cantina

469 Flat Shoals Ave, Atlanta, GA 30316

Here's what's cool about the $1 tacos on Monday and Tuesday at Blue Frog Cantina: some of the taco selections aren't on the regular menu. Chicken and steak are standard, but the off-menu pork version shines as the restaurant's best taco, and it, along with a ground beef, bean and veggie, are available Monday and Tuesday.

1198 Howell Mill Rd Ste 18, Atlanta, GA 30318

Maybe the best-kept $10 burger and brew secret in Atlanta is at JCT. Served at the upstairs bar from 5pm to 8pm, Tuesday through Thursday, the pimento cheese double cheeseburger (topped with fried green tomatoes and grain mustard) is available with a choice of beer.

One Midtown Kitchen

559 Dutch Valley Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30324

Every Thursday, One does a homemade meatball special served over pasta. Meatballs can vary (beef, pork, veal), or can be a combination of meats (our favorite). For $15 per person, you get the pasta, salad and dessert, but it's family style, so at least two people need to be dining.

918 Austin Ave, Atlanta, GA 30307

This Inman Park nook does a $5 sandwich special (with fries) on the weeknights. While its chicken melt on Monday and burger on Wednesday tempt us, we think the pulled pork barbecue sandwich (Thursday) is the way to go. To wash it down, grab a PB&J, a PBR tall boy and Jager shortie for $5.

BLT Steak

45 Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd, Atlanta, GA 30308

Restaurant deals in Atlanta aren't just for taco joints, burger bars and Italian jobs. BLT Steak, the high end steak chain from NYC has a $2 bar menu on weeknights. Craft beer is $2, oyster shooters are $2 and chilled oysters are ? $2. Dine at the bar from 5pm-7pm, Monday through Friday.

Varasano's Pizzeria

2171 Peachtree Rd NW, Atlanta, GA 30309

Because nothing beats free! Varasano's, the restaurant that officially lit the city aflame in pizza obsession, dishes free appetizers when you sit at that bar on weekdays, 5pm-7pm. But go ahead and prepare to order a pizza, because one whiff of a pie and you're a goner.

Everybody's Pizza

1593 N Decatur Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30307

The lunch special of all lunch specials in Atlanta is found at this Emory Village hangout. For a mere $7, you get a personal cheese pizza, small salad and a glass of beer or house wine. And as a bonus, you get go back to work full, and buzzed. (We suggest using this on Friday.)

Cafe di Sol

640 N Highland Ave, Atlanta, GA 30306

While we've never been to an oyster grill before, we like the sound of them. Every Sunday Cafe di Sol does live reggae on the outdoor patio with Poppa Ellis, a $12 grilled oyster plate and select deals on Peroni.

Shaun's Edgewood Social Club

1029 Edgewood Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30307

Not only is Shaun Doty doing a pasta night (Sunday), where the legendary Atlanta chef does a selection of different Italian specialties, but he throws in a salad (family style) and dessert (usually sorbet) for $12. Not a misprint.

Goin' Coastal

1021 Virginia Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30306

One thing that Atlanta lacks is the great seafood you can find along the East and Gulf Coast, but the new Goin? Coastal is not only making waves with their fried seafood in Virginia Highland, they're offering a gang-buster deal on Sunday nights. For $17 you get a four course meal served family style that includes soup, an entree, sides and dessert.
