New Rooftop Bars in New York

No city in the world takes advantage of its outdoor space like New York, whether it be a backyard, a sidewalk or a fire escape. These new rooftop bars in New York are working with some serious real estate--some with thousand square feet--and lux-ing it up with gardens, pools and water beds just in time for summer. New Rooftop Bars in New York

Press Lounge at Ink48 Hotel

653 11th Ave, New York, NY 10036

New to Hell's Kitchen is this stunning, 10,000-square-foot deck on the 16th floor of the Ink48 hotel. Come to watch the sun set over the Hudson and glint off the reflecting pool.

Glass Bar

127 W 28th St, New York, NY 10001

Lit up the color of Blue Curacao, this new Chelsea bar atop the Hotel Indigo looks like it'd be a thumping club, but the mellow music and intricate cocktails are well-suited to relaxing conversation.

Mercat Negre

65 Grand St, Brooklyn, NY 11211

Though this Catalan tapas spot opened in September 2009, the gorgeous new roof deck and garden overlooking south Williamsburg debuted in May and has yet to be discovered and overrun.

Le Bain

848 Washington St, New York, NY 10014

Anything but a standard rooftop bar, this summertime spot is covered in lush (albeit artificial) grass and pink water beds, and boasts jaw-dropping vistas, though the restrictive door policy and $15 cocktails may push some over the edge.

Bar D'eau

246 Spring St, New York, NY 10013

With a pool on its landscaped, 6,000-square-foot deck on the Trump SoHo hotel's seventh floor, Bar D'eau should prove to be a hot spot to cool down this summer.

Night of Joy

667 Lorimer St, Brooklyn, NY 11211

Of all the rooftops mentioned, this new Williamsburg spot has the worst view, but with a huge rooftop patio with its own margarita bar in a neighborhood bereft of rooftop spaces, it should be popular.

Sky Room

330 W 40th St Fl 33, New York, NY 10018

An ideal escape from the hordes of tourists in Times Square, Sky Room is the highest rooftop bar in New York (34th floor!), and includes private salon, a semi-private balcony and a south-facing terrace with private cabanas.
