Should the manicured lawns and neat rows of houses make you forget you're in Texas, this is the place to help you remember. Country favorites like fried chicken and juicy burgers are done right at this little island of Hill Country out in the `burbs.
Wedged into the strip center that is essentially Sugar Land's Chinatown, this is the local Houston favorite for dim sum. The restaurant doesn't employ the push carts of larger venues, but all the standard items are available on the menu.
As the name suggests, the specialty at this restaurant hidden behind the local Target is chaat, a street food popular all over India. The combination of puffed rice, potatoes, chiles and chutney is super flavorful and a super bargain.
For an un-fancy, weekday dinner, this is a go-to Houston restaurant for both pan-fried and steamed dumplings. Take-out is a popular option but your beef noodle soup will taste much better if you plonk down on one of the benches and enjoy it while it's fresh.
