Summer Drinks in D.C.

When D.C. humidity strikes, there's nothing quite like kicking back with a fresh summer drink. Water is great and all, but the medicinal value of fruit juice, sugar and alcohol is vastly underrated. Fortunately, D.C. loves to drink--and has plenty of cooling, seasonal libations to prove it. From a Pop Rocks martini (hello, ice cream truck flashback!) to a minty, spiked lemonade, we've rounded up the best summer drinks in D.C. (Pictured: cocktails at Current)

Summer Drinks in D.C.

Ping Pong Dim Sum

900 7th St NW, Washington, DC 20001

Citysearch fan Kaoru Y. has a hard time choosing her favorite summer cocktail at this chic Chinatown dim sum spot, but the lemongrass and lime cocktail wins out. "Soooo delicious!" she raves. No wonder she has a hard time choosing: You'll find margaritas, mojitos and other refreshing (and beautiful) drinks in unexpected flavors.

3101 K St NW, Washington, DC 20007

"The lychee martini at Mate in Georgetown is AMAZING," says Citysearch fan Amisha P. "You can't taste the alcohol, but [it's] still very strong and has just the right amount of sweetness."

Lucky Strike (washington Dc)

701 7th St NW, Washington, DC 20001

It's an unlikely spot, but this Chinatown bowling alley has a great bar, too. Citysearch fan Megan T. loves the Pop Rocks martini: "Brings me back to waiting in line for the ice cream man and devouring an entire packet of Pop Rocks like a wild monkey," she says.

Founding Farmers

1924 Pennsylvania Ave NW, Washington, DC 20006

"Hands-down [the] most refreshing and summer-esq cocktail can be found at Founding Farmers," says Citysearch Dictator Adam R. "The cucumber melon muddled martini is insanely good. Not only does it refresh you, but it's a sneaky intoxicator and on the value drink list."

Sticky Rice

1224 H St Ne, Washington, DC 20002

This H Street spot is famous for its creative sushi rolls, but the saketinis earn high praise, too. Citysearch fan Jennifer Y. is partial to the pear sake martini: "Not too strong, not too sweet and VERY delicious!" she says.

W Washington D.C

515 15th St NW, Washington, DC 20004

Citysearch Dictator Beth Ann V. heads to this chic rooftop lounge where she orders the ginger margarita. She says: "Strong and delicious. Plus, you can't beat the view!"

1215 Connecticut Ave Nw # 1, Washington, DC 20036

This posh Dupont sushi spot boasts an enviable cocktail list with fresh, inventive mojitos in flavors such as basil wildberry, mango and blackberry. The mint lemonade (spiked with Absolut Citron) is always a hit on hot nights, as are the New Wave Martinis in flavors such as lychee and pomegranate.

Commonwealth Gastropub

1400 Irving St NW, Washington, DC 20010

This British-style gastropub isn't known as a cocktail spot, but its selection of summer drinks are worth the trip. Citysearch Dictator Elyse M. usually opts for something from the wide beer selection, but recently became a fan of the tart French margarita and Cider Cup beer cocktail made with Strongbow.
