New York Theme Restaurants

Mars 2112

1633 Broadway, New York, NY 10019

This outer space-themed eatery is, quite literally, out of this world. The dining experience includes an interactive ride to the Red Planet, employees dressed in Martian-like attire and a full menu of traditional American fare. Underground and illuminated with a dim red glow, Mars 2112 takes you to another galaxy, right in the heart of Times Square.

Jekyll & Hyde Club

1409 Avenue of the Americas, New York, NY 10019

There's a surprise behind every corner at this midtown attraction, which is more kitschy than scary. From the elevator to the bathrooms to the decor, every element of this restaurant screams haunted house. A full cast of creepy characters serves a menu of standard American food like burgers, sandwiches and pasta.

Ninja New York

25 Hudson St, New York, NY 10013

Rather than servers at this downtown Japanese restaurant, you'll be guided to your table by--you guessed it--ninjas, dressed from head-to-toe in black. Not only does the staff perform a variety of tricks, but they're also likely to pop out from behind the corner when you least expect it. Choose from an extensive selection of sushi or other Japanese specialties, or opt for the tasting menu.

Planet Hollywood

1540 Broadway, New York, NY 10036

Walk the red carpet at this classic American chain, where you'll be dining alongside famous big-screen memorabilia, such as the dress that Dorothy wore in "The Wizard of Oz." Due to its midtown location, it's a tourist magnet, but the cheap eats and happy hour deals make for some goofy fun.

Ellens Stardust Diner

1650 Broadway, New York, NY 10019

Classic 1950s TV dinners are stepped up a notch at this retro-themed midtown diner. Not only is the space fully decorated with `50s memorabilia--and a full drive-through movie screen--but you'll also be served by waiters who actually sing to you. Choose from a full menu of American home-style favorites such as burgers and mac 'n' cheese.
