School's out for SUMMER!!

Summer vacation! Budget constraints have me local to Boston but that does not stop me from living it up as much as possible. Summer to me means pedicures, sandals, dresses, cocktails, baseball & beers, sushi, lobster, beaches, pools, mini golf, bumper boats, cookouts, and lots of dripping ice cream cones that end up more on your face than in your belly. Who am I kidding, I still do this anytime of year, but it's the sun and warmth that makes summer vacation the best time of the year.

Vacationing in New England...

Fins Sushi

636 Beacon St, Boston, MA 02215

Located next to BU's residential area in Kenmore, Fins Sushi is a breath of fresh air and fish! Prices are reasonable and the quality of the rolls and sashimi exceeded my expectations. I stopped here for a quick bite before a night out, however it has a great ambiance for date nights or girls night out. I love Philly Rolls, and as of right now Fins takes the cake for best philly rolls in Boston. A great alternative for a pre or post Fenway meal that is slightly off the beaten path, though central to the action.

Kimball Farm

400 Littleton Rd, Westford, MA 01886

Easily the best ice cream I have ever tasted. I have been going to Kimball since I was 10 years old, and although I desperately miss their chocolate mint oreo flavor, the rest are absolutely delicious too. BEWARE:: the kiddie size is a normal small-medium anywhere else, the small is a large, and the large is the equivalent of a half gallon of ice cream, SERIOUSLY. So either come hungry or share! Another perk to Kimball's is the bumper boats - even adults can use them! They also have a great mini golf course with two paths and both are awesome.

215 Charles St (The Liberty Hotel), Boston, MA 02114

Alibi, if you have not been there, is in the Liberty Hotel and has a jail theme, as it is a converted jail. What makes Alibi great in the summertime is their outdoor patio and featured events. The patio is a fantastic apres work stop to spice up your normal happy hours. Extremely easy to get to, as it is directly across the street from the MGH t stop. The menu features food from Scampo, a restaurant located further inside the hotel. Upscale and classy, Alibi is an outdoor oasis in Beacon Hill, and can help one imagine they are on vacation from the city.

Bokx 109

339 Grove St, Newton, MA 02462

$20 day pass gives you access to the pool between the hours of 11 am and 5 pm. Lounge in the cabanas, table service from the outdoor bar, swim around in the pool - the options are endless. The vibe of Bokx reminds me of my trip to South Beach, although it is in the suburbs next to Riverside T stop, it transports me to a vacation state of mind. Drinks are definitely on the pricier side, but I find Bokx to be a fun treat, that deviates from the normal run of the mill bar scene. If your friends are not into the beach (or even if they are) try Bokx for a fun summer experience.

Crane Beach

Argilla Rd, Ipswich, MA 01938

Parking is expensive so carpool or take public transportation. Once there enjoy a serene view of the ocean and a gorgeous, fun beach. There are many beaches to choose from in New England and the Boston area, however Crane Beach is one to definitely try at least once. Grab your friends and the cooler and make a day of it.
