Spots to Party Like You're Still in College

It's easy to long for the time when classes started at noon, Thursday night drink specials were nearly free and Saturday morning meant tailgating (read: drinking). Who wouldn't miss those glory days of unlimited freedom and little responsibility? This fall let's bring back the unabashed college throw down, let's take it deep on weeknights, play games while we drink and remember why dancing is so much fun. School's in session--it's time to give it that old college try.

Bars for College-Worthy Partying

1170 Howell Mill Rd NW, Atlanta, GA 30318

When you really want to throw down, go for all things awesomely pleasurable. This underground bar in White Provisions rocks a long list of craft beers (because sometimes us non-collegians just can't handle any more High Life) and a basement where you can play bocce ball, pool, shuffleboard and Donkey Kong. And the menu acts as a drunken snack machine with popcorn, corn dogs and cotton candy.

Star Community Bar

437 Moreland Ave, Atlanta, GA 30307

This place is just asking for trouble. There's a photo booth, an Elvis vault, a hidden downstairs bar with no windows and a burly bartender, $2.50 PBR tallboys, free shows on Thursdays and dance parties on Tuesdays that will make you think you landed in 1978. Letting loose in this time machine will make anyone feel like a college kid again.

Johnny's Hideaway

3771 Roswell Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30342

Because even the old Buckhead set needs to throw down sometimes. This freak show is the one place in Atlanta where it's almost impossible to 1.) take yourself too seriously, and 2.) not have fun. It's the sort of place where both old and young people like to get weird, and it's not uncommon to see a little mix `n? mingle spanning over two or three decades.

Hand In Hand

752 N Highland Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30306

For people actually in college, you should head down the street to Moe's and Joe's to hit on the Emorites. For those of us grads who want to let loose amid our professional companions in Virginia Highland, head to Hand in Hand. Their patio is like a tractor beam for attractive people, and nightly food and booze specials ($4 pitchers on Sunday) don't hurt the cause.

Flip Flops

1140 Crescent Ave, Atlanta, GA 30309

What better bar to roll college-style--be sure to pop that collar--and slam drinks than Flip Flops? This brightly colored, tropically themed bar makes Midtown seem like spring break circa whenever you were in college. We find it tough NOT to get into trouble wherever there are booze-heavy slush-puppy machines ... and Flip Flops has nine of `em.
