Chef Justin Turner's Houston Favorites

The man behind the meals for Shane Battier of the Houston Rockets is Memphis transplant and chef Justin Turner. He was recently named the executive chef of Gourmet Prep Meals, an alternative to traditional restaurant delivery that supports social entrepreneurship for at risk youth cycling out of the foster care system. Later this fall, he'll debut Bernie's Burger Bus, a mobile food operation in a converted school bus.

Chef Justin Turner's Houston Favorites

Villa Arcos

3009 Navigation Blvd, Houston, TX 77003

"This is my pick for the city's breakfast tacos. The bean and chorizo are the best I have ever had. It's a great stop after a long night of bar hopping on Washington."

Da Marco Cucina E Vino

1520 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77008

"When I want to do the fine dining scene, I have a few favorites, but Da Marco is always top of mind. It's as close to Italy as you can get and still be in Texas, and I?m always impressed by Marco Wiles' specials."

Dolce Vita Pizzeria & Enoteca

500 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77006

"Marco Wiles wins again--I promise I?m not on his payroll--with Dolce Vita, where I go for my favorite Neopolitan pizza plus a great atmosphere and anti pastas."

Reef

2600 Travis St, Houston, TX 77006

"Reef has an amazing selection of great seafood. While I love the menu, I?m a major fan of their creative approach to daily specials, which are always a winner."

Bellaire Broiler Burger

5216 Bellaire Blvd, Bellaire, TX 77401

"For a terrific whole in the wall experience, check out The Bellaire Broiler Burger. While I hope my burgers will soon be competing with some of the best in the city, this is a Houston flame broiling institution."
