A Hard Climb To the Top, A Few Beers On The Way Down
Updated: February 15, 2008
My weekly mountain biking adventures are almost always followed by a trip to a local brewery. A bit of a tradition amongst me and my buddies, so I figure I should pass on the tradition to my readers. Without giving away specifics (because discovering the spots is half the fun), here?s a list of breweries and a few hints to help you find some great rides and some great beers.
Bumps, Bruises and Beers

Redhook Ale Brewery Inc
Read Reviews14300 NE 145th St, Woodinville, WA 98072 (map)
Now in a new location, the parking lot serves as our starting point for this ride, what some like to call the ?Thrilla in Woodinvilla.? ESB?s are always welcome, but I typically go for the Copperhook. Tours of the brewery happen daily but the schedule changes depending on the season. A Turkey Blast sandwich, a beer (or two) and we?ve settled in after the long ride.
-
Fish Brewing Co
Write a review514 Jefferson St SE, Olympia, WA 98501 (map)
Local brew fans rejoice, this is as cool as they come. After a long ride in the local forest of our capital, we stopped in for an Organic Amber and some cod tacos. Located in Olympia, all the produce comes from Evergreen State College?s organic farm. Fresh ingredients and a laid back atmosphere are perfect after a long ride.
-
Issaquah Brewhouse
Read Reviews35 W Sunset Way, Issaquah, WA 98027 (map)
Summer rides seem the best at this mountain, synonymous with a black and orange striped cat. So as we head back, a little humbled by our day?s adventure, this brewery has been a great destination. With kobe beef burgers and halibut fish and chips on the menu, a few pints of Bullfrog Ale and we were feeling a little more determined to next time try and land on a little softer soil.
-
Big Time Brewery & Alehouse
Read Reviews4133 University Way NE, Seattle, WA 98105 (map)
I cant give away the exact location of our in-city riding destination. Let's just say if you have driven on Interstate 5 lately, you have driven right over the top of it. When the day's done and were a little bruised and battered, we head to this U-District brewery for cask conditioned beers, warm chili and some serious shuffle board action.
-
Diamond Knot Brewery
Read Reviews621 Front St, Mukilteo, WA 98275 (map)
You have to go a little farther than Mukilteo to find our next riding spot, maybe a ferry ride? But on your way back be sure and swing by this north end brewery for a possession porter and a cook-it-yourself Philly Steak Sandwich.
-
Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brwry
Read Reviews550 106th Ave NE Ste 103, Bellevue, WA 98004 (map)
More of a stop on the way back, this brewery serves as a great final destination after a grueling climb at a Juanita beach front park. Having joined the ?Mug Club,? we were left to enjoy our Never Summer Ale in our own mugs, which were kept behind the bar for us. My buddy is forever looking for that perfect burger and the ?brew burger? just might do the trick.
