At Home: Washington DC

  1. 1 Moby Dick House Of Kabab

1070 31st Street NW, Washington DC, DC 20007 (map)

Marc Roberge: "This is by far the best authentic Persian food on the East Coast. Don't be fooled by its fast-food facade. The platters are second to none and will give you a break from the norm on your lunch break or dinner with the family. My favorite dish is the jujeh kabob (chicken kabob)."

  2. 2 Tachibana

6715 Lowell Ave, McLean, VA 22101 (map)

Richard On: "Tachibana has the best sashimi in town, without even going into D.C. If you like fish, try their sashimi lunch/dinner special--fresh and plentiful."

  3. 3 Washington Music Center
    Write a review

11152 Veirs Mill Rd, Wheaton, MD 20902 (map)

Richard On: "We've been buying our gear here since the 7th grade! They have an elite inventory of anything you need that pertains to writing and performing music. Their staff is knowledgeable, laid-back and friendly...a rare characteristic for any music store that I've been to. There's a reason why they are one of the few independent music stores left in the area."

  4. 4 2.5 Star Rating: Below Average Panache Restaurant

1725 Desales St NW, Washington, DC 20036 (map)

Richard On: "If you're looking for a place to eat and party, Friday nights at Panache can get pretty lively...and not to mention the bartenders are very easy on the eyes."

  5. 5 Paul Kee Restaurant
    Write a review

11305 Georgia Ave, Wheaton, MD 20902 (map)

Richard On: "Sorry Mom, but this is my favorite Chinese food in the world! Great for a late-night meal, since they're open so late. Their crispy beef, shrimp dumpling soup and clams in black bean sauce are all unbelievable."

On the Road

  1. 6 2.5 Star Rating: Below Average Buddha Bar

25 Little W 12th St, New York, NY 10014 (map)

Benj Gershman: "Of all bars/restaurants in the Meatpacking District, this spot stands out, not only because of its great food, but its interior design."

  2. 7 3 Star Rating: Average Sake Bar Decibel
    Read Reviews

    240 E 9th St, New York, NY 10003 (map)

Richard On: "Decibel is one of my favorite places to hang in NYC. They have an outrageous assortment of premium hot and cold sakes, delicious Japanese small plates, and great music. On any given night they'll spin anything from old-school hip-hop to Japanese punk rock. It's quite small but has a really cool underground vibe to it. Since they don't take reservations, it can be tough to get a table, so either get there when they open or show up really late."

  3. 8 4.5 Star Rating: Recommended Thurman Cafe
    Read Reviews

183 Thurman Ave, Columbus, OH 43206 (map)

Jerry Depizzo: "The biggest, baddest, best-tasting burger in the Midwest."

  4. 9 5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended Dino's Subs
    Read Reviews

8016 Ventnor Ave, Margate City, NJ 08402 (map)

Marc Roberge: "There is no place on earth that has better subs than Dino's--period. It's a few miles south of Atlantic City and well worth the side-trip. I suggest the tuna sub. It will have you coming back to Jersey sooner than later."

  5. 10 3 Star Rating: Average Japonais

600 W Chicago Ave, Chicago, IL 60610 (map)

Chris Culos: The decor of this restaurant is unbelievable. They have four different areas to dine in, each with their own unique theme. While the more traditional dishes are great, the many not-so-traditional dishes are even better. One of my favorite dishes is called 'The Rock.' They bring out a hot stone of about 800 degrees which you cook your own strips of meat on."
