4938 Prytania St, New Orleans, LA 70115 (map)

"Another classic New Orleans seafood spot is Felix's. They?ve got some of the best oysters in the half shell, and their oyster bar has probably been there since the 20's. You just stand there by a bar of marble, and they just hand you oysters by the dozen. Drink ice cold beer, and eat raw oysters."

  2. 2 4.5 Star Rating: Recommended Parasol's Bar

2533 Constance St, New Orleans, LA 70130 (map)

"One of my favorite bar-type Po-boy sandwich joints is a place called Parasol's. It's in the Irish Channel off the beaten path. It's an old Irish joint, but they've got the best roast beef Po-Boys in town. New Orleans is an amazing place for food so I highly recommend anybody in New Orleans don't just take my word for it, explore them for yourself. There are thousands of them literally. Especially after the storm, a lot of these guys are back and working their butts off."

  3. 3 Poets Framing And Antiquities

3113 Magazine St, New Orleans, LA 70115 (map)

"There's such a plethora of intriguing things in New Orleans. You can go to the Contemporary Arts Gallery or you can go to the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, and they're just amazing. There are hundreds of small galleries, just stroll down Magazine Street. The galleries are always changing face depending on what artists are there. A really cool place is called Poets Gallery on Magazine Street. A girl named Jean runs that place, and she's always got cool, cutting edge art in there. It's beautiful stuff. It's not low brow at all. She's always pushing it. I'm gonna ask to have my art displayed at some point in one of the galleries, but I'm so busy doing Down and Corrosion of Conformity stuff that I haven't had time."

"I own a bar in New Orleans called Le Bon Temps Roule. It's on Magazine Street, and it's been around since the 70's. I purchased it about four years ago. We have outstanding food. It's just a wild New Orleans bar. I've been going there since I was a young lad, and we want to stay a staple for live New Orleans music venues. We never charge a cover charge. It's always been the place to go to see real deal New Orleans bands. I'm keeping it that way. It's a classic joint, when you walk inside the place, you see what a true New Orleans bar is like. It's a funky old house turned into a bar back. You don't change a place like that. You just keep it from falling down. That's what we're doing. I bought the place because I fell in love with it. The old man wanted to sell it, and he knew I wasn't going to change it around. We keep the New Orleans music true in that place too. I have all kinds of bands playing in there. After the storm, we were one of the first places open, and bands getting back together would come there and jam."

  5. 5 4.5 Star Rating: Recommended The Pelican Club

312 Exchange Aly, New Orleans, LA 70130 (map)

"There are two seafood joints I think are great in New Orleans. One of them is called The Pelican Club. It's on Exchange Ally. I had some kind of snapper stuffed with crabmeat, and it was just over the top. It was reasonably priced, and it was fantastic. It's right behind a gallery. So if you're rattin' around the French Quarter, it's a place to go and have a nice romantic dinner."

  6. 6 4.5 Star Rating: Recommended La Crepe Nanou

1410 Robert St, New Orleans, LA 70115 (map)

"One of my favorite French restaurants is a place called Le Crepe Nanou. It's like stepping into a restaurant in Paris. It's about as spot-on as it could possibly be. I always get the mussels. They're not exactly steamed, but they're some kind of mussels in a white wine sauce with garlic and everything. It's like being in Paris. Their crepes are amazing as well. This is a romantic joint too. Bring your lady over, it works every time!"

  7. 7 4.5 Star Rating: Recommended Jacques-Imo's Catering

8324 Oak St, New Orleans, LA 70118 (map)

"A true classic Louisiana Creole restaurant is a place called Jacques-Imo's Cafe. The chef Jack there has done an amazing job. The reason I think this place is amazing is because Jack's one of those chefs whose been around the world, and he's seen just about everything there is to see culinary-wise. He's got many tricks up his sleeve. He pushes the limits of Creole cooking, and it's outstanding. It's a funky little place. You've gotta walk through the kitchen to get to your seat. It's amazing. We have a plethora of food down here. With the Caribbean and African influences, you've got this bombastic explosion of flavors going on. I think what makes New Orleans a great place for food is a lot of chefs down there are trying to push the limits, expanding by crossing genres, that?s the secret to Creole cooking."

  8. 8 5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended Anselmo's Restaurant

3401 N Hullen St, Metairie, LA 70002 (map)

"A really good Italian restaurant in New Orleans is a place called Anselmo's, and that's (Down frontman) Phil Anselmo's dad's place. It's probably the best Italian food that I've ever had in my life, and I'm not just saying that because it's Phil's old man. It's the real deal, and any dish that they have there is amazing. They have an Italian shrimp dish and eggplant. The marinara sauce is super dark. I would highly recommend it. It's fantastic. Every time we do some type of record deal or something, we end up bringing them over there. It's definitely the place to be for Italian food. It got voted "best soft shell crab in New Orleans" which is no easy feat."

  9. 9 One Eyed Jacks

615 Toulouse Street, New Orleans, LA 70130 (map)

"Another club that's killer is One Eyed Jacks. That's the place to see bands like High on Fire and The Melvins. It's where the cool heavy rock bands hang out. It's like an old Vaudeville theater in the French Quarter. It's killer. It's got a lot of character."

"I like the Farmer's Market in LA. That's awesome. You can go from eating raw oysters to turning your back and getting the best Mexican food in the world. You can go get some crazy dessert dish, everything you need is right there. The Mexican restaurant in the middle of that thing is mind blowing."

  3. 12 3.5 Star Rating: Average Miceli's

1646 N Las Palmas Ave, Hollywood, CA 90028 (map)

"It's an old school joint. It's been there a long time, and they serve great Italian food. They've got some old timer playing The Godfather theme on the piano. It's killer!"

  5. 14 3 Star Rating: Average Musso & Frank Grill
    Read Reviews

6667 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood, CA 90028 (map)

"I like old stuff. I'm not into Asian-fusion whatever restaurants that always have track lighting. If a restaurant's been there for 70 years, it's gotta be good. I love Musso and Frank's. I tend to stick with the older joints. A lot of the old-timers, they've got a good thing going, and they keep it going with their signature dishes."

  6. 15 3.5 Star Rating: Average El Compadre

1149 W Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026 (map)

"There are two El Compadres. There's one in Echo Park and one in Hollywood. I've been to both. My only complaint is the first margarita you get is on fire; then they don't light the next ones. I tend to go about ten deep. I want them lit every time!"
