Bissap Baobab
Read Reviews2323 Mission St between 19th and 20th, San Francisco, CA 94110 (map)
"This West African Senegalese spot in the Mission is a favorite. Casual and friendly atmosphere. My dish of choice: Marinated chicken with grilled onions in a lemon garlic mustard sauce served with a couscous--comfort food at it's finest. Top it off with one of their homemade ginger cocktails (it will help mask the garlic)."

Ferry Plaza Farmers' Market
Read ReviewsMarket St and The Embarcadero, San Francisco, CA 94105 (map)
"I lived in San Francisco for six years and loved spending weekend mornings at the Farmers Market on the Embarcadero. Go hungry, because you will find all sorts of tempting and tasty things. My friends swear by the fish tacos, while I usually go for one of the duck sausage sandwiches."

Neiman Marcus-- The Rotunda Restaurant.

"The diva in me adores the fabulousness of this place that is geared toward the ladies-who-lunch crowd. Fellas could do very well to surprise the lady in their life with a late lunch at this spot overlooking Union Square. The popovers and flavored whipped butters will be your downfall, but if you can save room, the lobster bisque is unparalleled."

The Watts Coffeehouse

"Their website says, 'Come in for a great coffee experience, fall in love with the food... ' It's true. Heaven on earth is the chicken wings and waffles (The diet starts tomorrow). Sunday brunch is pretty great, especially if you need a spot to stop after church. Reservations aren't required."

Three Bear's Bar-B-Q
Read Reviews11916 S Figueroa St, Los Angeles, CA 90061 (map)
"This spot in South L.A. is probably more known for its barbeque, but I gotta tell you, it's the only place I know of where you can feed a family of four with one burger! Start out with the Mama Bear... when you feel ready, try the Big Bad Wolf."
-
Blue Hen Restaurant
Read Reviews1743 Colorado Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90041 (map)
"This is one of those veggie places where even I, a pesky meat-eater, can really enjoy a quick bite. It's a small menu, with a wee bit of chicken here or there, but it is mostly super flavorful, veggie-friendly Vietnamese faire. You can't go wrong."

Green Street Restaurant

"Sometimes during the day I catch myself dreaming of the Cornucopia Salad. I know, it's really a sad state of affairs when you dream about a salad. But this salad, full of fresh greens, plump avocadoes, tangy cranberries and apples, toasted slivered almonds, grilled chicken... is divine."

Masse
Write a review306 N Flores St, Los Angeles, CA 90048 (map)
"Designer Melissa Masse is friend to every curvy girl. Her stuff is custommade clothing perfect for everyday wear. I've purchased little black cocktail dresses, tailored button-down shirts, and even had a custom made outfit done for a wedding. Her prices are what you would expect for custom ordered items."

Asia de Cuba at Mondrian
Read Reviews8440 W Sunset Blvd, West Hollywood, CA 90069 (map)
"I know, it's too easy. Even on a cool winter's evening, the view of L.A. from the patio is OUTSTANDING. And I LOVE the black cod dish. I like to go early or on an off night when the crowd is a little more timid. Did I mention the Mojitos?"

LA's Best Operations Office
Write a review711 E 14th Pl, Los Angeles, CA 90021 (map)
"One of my favorite organizations is L.A.'s BEST, the preeminent after school enrichment program that serves 25,000 children in the LAUSD. This excellent program provides a safe haven for children ages 5 to 12 during the critical hours after school at no cost to their parents. Really important."

Rose Bowl Flea Market
Read Reviews1001 Rose Bowl Dr, Pasadena, CA 91103 (map)
"I have been addicted from the jump. I LOVE IT. Go early, admission is $15, but it's worth it because you can see the good stuff before it gets picked over. If you sleep in and arrive at 9am, it's $7. Excellent for antique buffs, vintage clothing fans or just anyone who likes to find unusual goodies."
