    Head downtown the day before Easter for the annual Blessing of the Animals, a special rite of passage where Cardinal Roger Mahoney delivers a blessing over Angelenos and their pets. The service begins at 2pm. Animals and their owners should assemble on the north side of the Plaza at El Pueblo Historic Park. The procession and festivities go on from 12pm to 5pm, and it's free to participate.

    It's a dog's life during the annual Haute Dog Parade, when hundreds of decked-out doggies hit the streets of Long Beach for charity on Easter Sunday. The event begins at 2:30pm at Livingston Park while the 8-block sidewalk parade happens along Second Street between Roycroft and Argonne Avenues.
