I loved my stay at the Driskill. It's a fantastic location, the room was really nice, the bed super comfy and the hotel itself is beautiful.
Even if you're not staying at the luxurious Hotel San Jose, it's a great place to kick up your feet and grab happy hour. The grounds feel intimate and secluded even though it's located off bustling South Congress Avenue. If you're up for drinks, try the sangria or the Texas rainwater.
This bar was one of the firsts when eastside started to become cool. Longbranch has a pleasant divey feel & a smattering of taxidermy.

Travaasa-Austin. Driving out to Travaasa is a little bit like journeying through a tree-laden, Middle Earth forest to a mystical, mountain-top oasis: It's inside Austin proper, but far-flung from the inner city rush. The facials, massage, and even yoga classes here are all incredible, but they've just started offering mechanical bull riding classes, too. One go-round, and you'll figure out why cowboys consistently have such cute butts.… read more
