Whether for a pre-Longhorn football game warm up or post work libations, the legendary Texas Chili Parlor is one of my favorite stomping grounds in the Capitol City. The casual, raucous bar always attracts an eclectic crowd, thanks to its drinks that are heavy on the pour and light on the wallet. While the rum-rich ‘Magnums’ and citrusy margaritas are quite tasty, my money order is always a Drew Drink. Consisting of two shots of vodka, a little soda, splash of cranberry, squeeze of lime, and served tall over plenty of ice, a Drew Drink is guaranteed to ensure the happiest of happy hours.
Summers in Austin are hot, and so is Uncle Billy's BBQ! After a hot afternoon at Barton Springs, I love nothing better then to cool off at Uncle Billy's, sitting on the patio under some misters enjoying a nice cold beer!
Fast food for healthy, lazy people: Snap Kitchen's readymade meals are a godsend for those of us who fancy ourselves too busy to cook. Think shrimp tacos, buffalo hash, cold pressed juices - all things I could attempt to prepare myself, or, pay someone else to make them about 50x more deliciously than I can.
Tasty enchiladas, cilantro rice, charro beans. Oh, and queso flambeado.

This cozy Rosedale bakery is a treat on weekends. The black gold cookie is the number sweet, but the tomato bacon quiche is the highlight of savory options.

Guero's. The SoCo Tex-Mex joint famous for celeb sightings, Guero's is also well-known for their extensive margarita menu. They don't go crazy with fruity flavor combos here, but spice up their 17 margarita offerings with various tequilas, ranging from sharp blancos (aged the least) to smooth anejos (aged the most). This is also the place where Tarantino's 2007 slasher film, Death Proof, opens. … read more
