Reserve 101

Houston, TX

Boosting the largest collection of whiskey in the state. This small bar located in the heart of Houston's downtown is a total gem. Athletes coming to play in sports games downtown are known to frequent here as well.

The Original OKRA Charity Saloon

The Original OKRA Charity Saloon

Houston, TX

This new addition to downtown is a beauty. Love the charity concept, too. You can also order milk and cookies, which are right out of the oven and delicious. The entrance can be a bit nondescript - it's the red-framed entryway.

Captain Foxheart's Bad News Bar & Spirit Lodge

Captain Foxheart's Bad News Bar & Spirit Lodge

Houston, TX

Captain Foxheart's Bad News Bar is the newest addition to the main street/downtown revival, from well-known Houston bartender Justin Burrows, backed by the guys of Grand Prize & big star bar. There's no set cocktail menu (yet), which I find thrilling. I asked "for something with gin" twice in a row and was not disappointed. The fabulous long bar and big patio overlooking the skyline are sure to add to your happy hour (or late night) experience. The awesome vinyl selection doesn't hurt, either.
